Enjoying Treehouse’s Mega Treat after work on this Tuesday evening.

 

Whats up bar patrons? You know when youve had a bad couple days and you just want to grab a stool and talk? Me today. My Old lady Lucy is just about completely blind now- got worse over the last couple days. Already 90% deaf. Now her legs are giving out so Im sad one of my friends will be gone soon. Shes had a good life though. To make things worse I was supposed to start a job today and guy never sent a schedule or contacted me. Then today he sends me a text "its official you start tomorrow". You might say well thats not a big deal but you wait for almost 2 weeks and then find out its just now "official" after we had an agreement to start today, to me red flags go up. Good news is alot is opening up and I went for an interview at a brewery here in RI looking for a Chef yesterday because thats my bag. Have to go back for a second interview with the owners. Thanks for listening to my bitching. Cheers.

Played Led Zeppelin’s catalogue from start to finish while reading. Never did that before, a very nice pairing with the reading.

Will catch up on the threads once I finish the book.

Tonight's Beer Tasting Lineup is another Blind Battle Beers: (All correctly identified in the blind taste test)

1) Guinness Harp Lager (4.5%): A dry Irish pale lager that is mostly malts consisting of bread, cereal, and pale malts. Smooth and clean.
versus
2) Trader Joe's Josephsbrau Czech Pilsner (5.4%): A Bohemian-style pilsner from Trader Joe's that has strong bread and some salty and slightly buttery flavors. Slight Belgian spices and clove here.

3) Surly's Fall to Pieces Mosaic IPA (6.8%): A mosaic IPA from Surly that has lots of orange juice flavors with mango/papaya to follow, and a strong cinnamon flavor on the end.
versus
4) Lagunitas StereoHopic IPA (7.2%): A release from Lagunitas that is brewed with Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin hops. This provides green tropical flavors (Mosaic), but also some orchard-fruit, pear, and gooseberry (Nelson Sauvin). Finishes with a classic Lagunitas sweetness.

5) Schell's Snowstorm Oat Stout (6.3%): An oatmeal stout from Minnesota that has strong dark fruit flavors of raspberry, cherry, strawberry coated in chocolate. Creamy and malty.

6) Deschutes Obsidian Stout (6.4%): A dark chocolate and roasty stout from Deschutes that has lots of dark chocolate and roast. Deep, dark, and roasty.

Winners:

1) Guinness Harp Lager: This one has smooth and bready malt flavors. Even some potato malt flavor, or maybe I'm imagining it.

3) Surly's Fall to Pieces Mosaic IPA: Great orange juice flavors. A bit of mango, but the cinnamon and minty flavor here really stands out. Great carbonation and drinkability.

5) Schell's Snowstorm Oatmeal Stout: Hard to call a winner because these two were very different. First time trying this one and it was much more fruity, creamy, and sweet than Obsidian. I don't think one is better than the other, but preferred this one tonight.

Do you prefer a creamy and smooth stout like Snowstorm Oat Stout or a dark roast and bitter one like Obsidian Stout?
