I really wish this had happened back before they were acquired by AB-InBev. These beers are good, but it's sort of against my moral code to drink them with any sort of regularity. Not saying I never will, but it will absolutely influence my decision.

Don't get me wrong, Brown is awesome! I just meant that the other poster was in a different market.

Not going to be like that everywhere. I am in Illinois right now, hardly any place south of I80 (aka Chicago) get a lot, and it sells out in a day. Philly gets more than downstate Illinois. Maybe the bigger cities in Texas will get more..will just have to see.

Other than Chicago, there are hardly any people in IL. The drop off in population outside of metro Chicago is crazy.

This is a ridiculous position to take, and snobbery at that. As soon as they start to compromise the quality of their beers, we can all go haywire about AB-Inbev's evilness. Until then, they make some of the finest beer that this country produces and they happen to be owned by AB-InBev. Who cares? It's always been about the quality of the beer, not necessarily if it is "craft", "import", or bud/miller/coors type swill. If the giant breweries can actually produce a product worth a damn, I'll drink it regularly. The thing is, they don't create great products, and we will all hope that Goose Island continues to innovate and produce quality beer- which I highly suspect they will.

You have no idea how bad AB-Inbev is, do you?

They found a way to make Budweiser worse. They move breweries across the seas and ruin the beer. They cut out long time business partners and hop growers.

You know why? ANYTHING TO SAVE A DOLLAR.

It's probably just a matter of time before it happens to Goose Island. I will, however drink the beers until they suffer. That said, Inbev is about the worst thing to happen to beer and I understand Chad's stance.

I thought I was clear in my post. I do know how bad AB-InBev is. I don't like their products. I just said that Goose Island should continue to be supported, regardless of their ownership, until they produce substandard products that make us believe that they are no longer interested in producing great beer. Chad's post referenced that he would possibly have issues drinking Goose Island beers because of their affiliation with InBev. I just think that is ridiculous.

There is nothing inherently wrong with choosing not to support an evil empire.

I hear you. I love the stuff. I just won't give Chad too much business for his ethical choices.

    Ridiculous? Why?

Read this article in its entirety, and tell me if you still feel good about supporting this business:

    http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-10-25/the-plot-to-destroy-americas-beer

Let's not forget that John Hall is also no longer involved with the brewery in any capacity, and a former AB-InBev Exec was put in charge of Goose Island. Regardless of whether or not the quality of their beer has changed (it hasn't that I know of yet), the way this company does business, does not resonate with me. And when I say company, I mean AB-InBev, of which Goose Island is part of.

And why are you saying my view is snobbery? You said that without really any information as to why I made my choice. You could have simply asked some questions on why I said what I did. Instead, you made assumptions that just aren't true. I choose to support small businesses first, and vote with my wallet. This is an American principle I'm proud of, and always will be. Uninformed asshole, that's what you are.

Easy now. No need for name calling, I didn't do that to you. Here's the disconnect between our views: I believe the only thing that matters is the quality of the beer produced, and you philosophically have an issue with who produces it, esp if it is made by a giant company. I see turning up your nose at something because it is made by a company that is owned by a giant company as short-sided. As long as it is a quality product that I enjoy, I do not care who makes it.

You said my behavior was "snobbery at that", so you called me a snob. It's name calling, however you slice it. All I did was do the same thing you did, but perhaps in a more direct manner. If you argue against that, it's like when you call something that someone says "stupid", but you claim you're not calling THEM stupid. It was their thought, so you called them stupid. Just call it what it is. You called me a snob, and I didn't appreciate it, because your view was uninformed. You don't know all the facts on why I decided what I did.

So you're saying that the ONLY thing that matters to you, is if a product is quality? What about a company that doesn't warranty their quality products? What if the company used child labor (which is illegal in America) to produce products outside of America, for the American market? What if employees were whipped and beaten while making the quality product? What if the company employs only women, and endorses a viewpoint that all men are inferior? What if the company uses all profits to fund terrorism?

I realize I'm getting extreme, but the point I'm trying to make is that we all have some kind of moral code, and this is mine. It's great that your only qualification is if a company produces a quality product, but to say my moral opinion is "snobbery" is very one sided. It's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.

I pretty much agree with lnashsig. I really don't care at all, as long as it is good beer. That being said, I hope we don't see a flood of 312 and Honkers Ale everywhere. There are so many better versions of wheat and pale ales that are already made in Texas, we don't need two more inferior products taking up space at Specs getting old. Bring on the Three Sisters and hopefully, eventually BCS.

Who cares. At this point, it's pure speculation. Sure, it's unsettling and I admit that I do fear the worst. When it boils down to it, I'd rather wait and see. It's a lot easier and makes more sense than the Chicken Little train of thought.
