    No difference.

Okay, maybe when serving a saison to company, I like to pour it out of a 750ml or bomber, but when I'm drinking with a buddy, ordering at a bar, or drinking alone, it doesn't matter.

To be fair, Tony Magee (Lagunitas)'s objection to canning is environmentally-based, rather than rooted in the classic stigma of cans (which I agree is the stumbling block for most craft brewers patently opposed to canning). BeerPulse reported on Tony Magee's position regarding canning a while back: http://www.beerpulse.com/2012/04/la...-last-brewery-in-the-us-to-use-aluminum-cans/

And here's a link from that article to a good overview of the issues with bauxite mining: http://www.triplepundit.com/2011/10/green-craft-beer-dirty-aluminum/

I have to agree with you on the 6 month best by, I had a Sculpin bomber dated 02/13 and that bad boy was not fresh anymore, malty mess if you ask me and I've had fresh, my beer was about 3 1/2 months old and it tasted like it.

I actually called the brewery in person not that long ago, and confirmed that it was four months. I'm pretty confident about that.

So you think that 1 1/2 month Sculpin can crap out???? These cans are going to be the savior for BP, I've had 3 month old heady that taster fresher than most 2 week old bottles.

cans are not better for cellaring, at least the ones now due to the linings on the inside which leech into the beer and while it isn't much it adds up in the long run. They do keep beers fresher brewery to market but i wouldn't drink anything out of a can after 6 months max. I do enjoy ipas in cans though.

Sculpin has been inconsistent as of late. I bought a one week old 6'er, it was bad, they all tasted 6+ months old.

The best buy is indeed 4 months out from bottling.

Er, was that your experience? That 1 1/2 month old Sculpin had really fallen off?

I have a friend that is a microbiologist and he said the "leeching" is just not true unless left in the cans for many, many years.

I just have to say, the fact that he is a microbiologist (or any kind of biologist) doesn't give him any credibility when it comes to materials science.

    /molecular biologist here
