Can't complain about the new delivery service. Seems quicker and I can't complain if the beer was less than stellar because of unusual record breaking heat or if they sat in a truck all weekend in 100+ F. The beer tastes fine. Haven't gotten through the big stouts yet. I guess I have spent enough at Tavour to qualify for the secret stashes. The problem is that they are sold out before I have any idea that they even are available. Not that I missed out on anything I would want.
Interesting. My shipments came speedee as well. Guess I'm done with tavour for now as well, though I haven't ordered anything in over 6 months or so. Halftime beverages has been my go to mail order beer company for the last few purchases.
Would love to give Tavour a try but I'm running into the same issues that @Peach63 ran into. I am a bit surprised that they don't have a web site that could support ordering.
So I grabbed Gutted a couple of weeks ago and have been sitting on that crate for a bit, and added a couple of ipas shortly after thinking that I would see a couple more beers that piqued my interest. Now my crate is closing in two days and seeing a 3 beer crate has me thinking I better try something else in my feed. I find myself considering beers that I may not even like simply because I want to take advantage of the shipping rates. I think that, outside of a few BA releases that I do not have access to and would gladly pay the inflated prices, I may be done with the platform again. It seems halftime gets a lot of the same hard to aquire beers and more. And I don't have to wait for something else to pop. I grab my "whale" and some other more readily available beers to try and I'm done.
Dude. Closed my crate last night after postponing for 4 weeks hoping to fill it out, rusty nail drops this morning. DaFUQ.
Time to open a new box. Amirite? seriously though that’s generally how it does. Crap for a few weeks then close then boom something you want.
I believe that each bottle/can label needs to be approved by ATF and possibly state authorities. They can't just buy a keg, bottle it, and ship it out. I don't see how they could make this work as a series of one-offs. A heads-up from the authorities or from a knowledgeable colleague might have caused them to change business model.
By choosing mostly high ABV stouts I've managed to keep my crate open long enough to include all of the below in a single shipment without getting the "don't let your beer go bad" message: Coolship Resurgam - Allagash Frayja - Anchorage Gutted - Anchorage Sent by Liars - Anchorage Juan De Bolas - Aslin Velvet Merkin (2016 Vintage) - Firestone Walker Brew 5000 - Fremont Extended Barrel-Aged DORIS - Hoppin' Frog Barrel-Aged BORIS - Hoppin' Frog DDH Vapor Ringz - Other Half Helles Lager - pFriem This is set to ship next week, and I didn't see the Rusty Nail pop up this morning, so fingers crossed that I don't have the same luck with timing. Or more likely, I just won't see it pop up at all.
I never got the “don’t let your beer go bad message” and often would wait 3-4 months before shipments, but I never bought IPAs or anything like that until I was about to close a box
Nah, I get Fremont bottles on my local shelves. Batch 5000 never popped on my feed but I was able to nab some bottles easily on my way home. No need to start another crate.
Does every order get delayed in shipping? Every single one of mine has and I am wondering if this is a standard thing.
I’ve had 2 get delayed. Once was because it was too cold to continue in transit and held for 2 days and once was one of my last crates
Just had a horrible experience with the latest delivery courier (Street Fleet) that will prevent me from using Tavour. Have to make a complaint to the delivery service for all the good that will do.
Can you give more detail? Just received my first via Street Fleet & other than receiving the box on Thursday & not delivering it until Tuesday (their location is about 25 minutes away) I didn't have any issues. But I'd like to be aware just in case...
I have these type of packages delivered to my workplace since I am rarely at home during delivery hours. I arrange it that a CSR will sign or take responsibility for the package. Never a problem before. This particular driver refused to let someone else take it and required me to come and get it. I had to be tracked down and retrieved and come to the lobby. The driver then proclaims, "I got a box of booze for you!". There were customers around and all their heads jerked around because I have a very safety sensitive job. How about some discretion? I then had to walk outside with the driver and they required a photograph of my ID. What? I then had to pull the box out of the trunk of their car. The car was loaded with a bunch of identical Tavour boxes so if you got one on Wednesday it was probably the same driver.
Some people have no self-awareness. That's bizarre. I'd certainly let Tavour know. The guy who dropped mine off was in a van & I've never been asked for a photo of my ID...also bizarre. Sounds like you had a tone-deaf tool delivering to you.
I emailed Tavour and they responded and apologized and thanked me for the feedback. They said they will contact the courier.
Pretty excited to see Revolution's Supermassive Cafe Deth. Do any of their barleywines ever make it to Tavour? Thanks.
I have only been on Tavour for about a year, but the only other Revolution barrel aged thing I've seen is Deth by Cherries a few months ago. I think there have been a few ipas too, but don't quote me on thay.
