Had lunch at an old school Houston BBQ joint, been open in the same location with the same family since 1935. Called Pizzitolas, sounds like an Italian place, but its just the name of the family With a brick pit smoker, that is grandfathered in, as that type of smoker is not legal anymore within the city (think it has to do with how its placed in the building, but its a historical building and the city can't do anything about it).

Anyway, they are known for their ribs, and they are great, with some sausage and beans and smoked mac & cheese. They usually have Saint Arnold, but were out today, so had a Karbach Love Street. I haven't had Karbach in a long time, this use to be a pretty good Kolsch style, now its just called "Love Street Blonde" no other designation. Maybe they still consider it a Kolsch and just changed the label, but its as bland and watery as a Bud or Coors Light now. Ugh. Oh well lunch was really good, and this place never changes, which is a small miracle

 

It's the big 6-0 for the wife today! She's happy with the flowers and cake. Hopefully we can have a nice birthday cookout to finish off the day, so the pressure's on the kids now to get along for a night.
