Upon my last visit to the supermarket, they still had 6 packs of the remastered recipe. I thought they were discontinuing it though, so they might be getting old by now.

I've been doing the same thing. I would notice every time I had SABL I would think "Why don't I have this more often?". I decided to make SABL and SNPA a regular feature in my fridge (they are both in there now). I don't hate the hazy beers but I'm not that interested in them. There are some local NC breweries that make nice pilsners and West Coast style IPAs that I like but hard to find fresh. I'll save those purchases for when I find them fresh.

Feel the same way about hazies as you do.

According to Untappd (unless I bought a hazy I already had and can’t remember), I haven’t bought a hazy in over 3 months.

There are so many clean, well made beers out there that it’s hard to pick up hazies anymore. Think about it - tons of great Oktoberfest style beers are out now, Founders released a new session Red IPA called Scarlet Dawn (a great one), and soon Celebration will be released.

Sam Sweater weather 12 pack for $11.99 at Jewel/Osco. Too good of a price to pass up.

I’m looking forward to trying this one

Interesting you should state that. I wanted to clear up my confusion about what is Festbier is and because I have never actually been to Oktoberfest in Germany, I wrote beer writer Mark Dredge (he wrote A Brief History of Lager). He lives in England and has attended Oktoberfest many times. I was under the impression Festbier was more of a Dortmunder, but he explained it is a strong version of Helles, which makes total sense to me now that I have had a chance to try Paulaner's Oktoberfest Bier. This is the first time I've seen Paulaner's Oktoberfest Bier in Atlanta, we always get their Marzen. Oktoberfest Bier is definitely a strong Helles. Same with Weihenstephaner Festbier. Those are both terrific beers that I never tire of either.

I think I'd call Dortmunder a stronger version of Pilsner before Helles, but either comparison really falls short as Dortmunder is distinctly individual in its style; mineral, dry, crisp.

While finishing dry, Helles and Festbier (should) have that Munich softness to body and richer malt character.

But yeah, tasting each beer at their sources gives a bigger appreciation of the styles. Pasteurization and long transportation really do effect flavor.

Right, and I'd have to defer to Drudge since he's drank them all in person, fresh. I don't have a lot of experience with Dortmunder either, a rare style to find around me.

Just had my first one and I was pleasantly surprised... now...is it something I would pick up over Ayinger or Hofbrau? Nope.. but I do like it better than their seasonal and if it were available in stand alone sixers, I would purchase it as a fridge staple during the fall considering I don't have easy access to some of the German standards...

If this beer was available as a stand-alone six-pack I would buy it.

I will keep an eye out at my local Wegman's singles section. In the past they have split up some mix-packs to sell as singles.

    Cheers!

If happen to be in a Giant (but not KOP's, I have found their singles section to be lacking) many have broken this pack up and have the beers in the singles section.

    LOL!

I just got back from the KoP Giant and the singles selection was indeed lacking.

I did also stop by Kunda with the hope of purchasing Neshaminy Creek Croydan is Burning (Gold Medal winner in the recent GABF for the Smoke Beer category) but it was not there. I did find very fresh Sterling Pig Shoats Pilsner (which I bought) and my first ever sighting/purchase of Tucher Festbier. I am very happy to find these two brands of beer.

    Cheers!

Funny I posted this Friday and ended up picking up a 6er of Sam Adams Just The haze. It was the only NA craft beer they had though.

Had the three Fest Biers from the twelve pack earlier this week. Not unpleasant, but not worth buying the pumpkin beer to get them.

And that is exactly what is keeping me from purchasing this mix-pack.

    Oh well!?! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Cheers!
