Man I was in Cedar Rapids IA yesterday and walked into a liquor store that had 2 cases of this sitting on the floor with no bottle limit. Sooooo crazy what u see in different markets from your own. This is half the fun of going to shops in different states.

So many places I know on Long Island have this just chillin' everywhere right now, guess the price compounded with bad reviews have put people off. Oh well.

A few package stores near me have quite a bit each, price at $23.99 per bottle. It's been about two weeks and I honestly don't think they have sold any.

Bolt Cutter is nothing like KH. Bolt Cutter is the most average BA Barleywine I've ever had.

Once again, what bad reviews? It has a 91 with an rAvg of 4.11% for reviews. That's positive numbers, you're just only looking at the negative comments some have said.

Anyone else taste this fresh and was underwhelmed? We thought it was hot, boozy, sweet (not bad things...) Thinking the complexity I am used to with Founder's will come through after some age...lets hope. $25 / bottle is a tough sell...

Haven't had a chance to review this proper because I just had it quickly at a tasting, BUT...I don't get the hate that this beer has often received in its short lifespan. From all the bad reviews, I was expecting the worst, but was pleasantly surprised. It's pretty damn smooth for a 15% abv beer, drinks more like 10% or less. Also, I liked the flavor and the slight sweetness to it. One knock I can understand is it's not the most complex beer out there and the mouth feel is a bit thinner than I expected. Just saying, a few people called it undrinkable...total bullcrap. Not the best beer by any means but nowhere near guilty of the wretched ire it's received.

I feel the same way, also the other thing I don't like about the beer is that I don't get any of the barrel character out of it.

Hopefully the barrel character will become more apparent with age...

Yeah, by no means was this a bad beer...Probably better than good even, but just needs some time...

agree, it was like drinking a strong ipa, not that there is anything wrong with that, but i did expect more, with time perhaps...

Picked up two bottles today, I think I'll just put it away for 5 or so years and then give it a shot.

This is exactly what I'm doing. Everyone that has tried it has recommended a 3-5 yr cellar. I really want to try it but don't want to be disappointed.
