As a comparison, I had three bottles of Saranac Festival Pils. It was not unpleasant. But, it was very lightly carbonated. (Perhaps, they were going for a krausen pils.) Also, in the twelve pack were three Black Forest (delicious as ever), three Octoberfest (compare to this year's stuff from other companies) and three German IPA's (????). However, There's no pumpkin stuff.

Based on my emojis and yours, I'm going to surmise you're poking fun (after a whole month), as I was.

It is, after all, another BA tradition.

I was an original Sam Adams fan, when the beer first appeared I was blown away by the taste and quality, when I moved from state to state the first thing I would do is go to local package store and ask them to order Sam, they were never disappointed either. The delicious craft brew flew off the shelf. Their Oktoberfest was excellent. Have not purchased Samuel Adams beer in probably 30 years. They turned into a macro brewer and I lost interest when they had 101 beer styles to chose from. Plus Koch always seemed drunk as well a the Dogfish head guy. Does anyone know what happened to the collaboration of Sam Adams and Dogfish Head?

"Collaboration" ? More like a purchase. You can read all about it in the Boston Beer Co. 2020 Annual Report.
They do admit to drinking beer together...

    Really?

That's hardly any compared with the new tick-a-day brewers.

You are right. And if you look at the beers they are regularly producing it is a pretty limited list.It seems to be BL, the "Wicked" collection and the seasonal. I would like them to bring back some of their classic (to me). like Boston Ale, Noble Pils. While I'm not a fan of Old Fezziwig there sure seem to be many who want to buy it if SA would produce it.

anywho..... count me in the (small?) camp that really likes the fest beer. I'd buy it if were in its own dedicated packaging.

It's physically impossible for me to NOT buy lots of this every year. LOL And the fact that they started canning it a few years back makes it even better since I have two choices. I love the german staples too, but this is a go-to. Never disappoints. I bought it the first year they made it, when the bottle had a brown label. I'm guessing '87. Last year my wife discovered a case in the back of our local small liquor store still hanging around in early November. Gave it to me as a wrapped gift under the Christmas Tree. What a bonus! Had both Octoberfest and Winter Lager to choose from in January.

Keep an eye out at our local Wegmans in KOP. They had singles of Festbier and Octoberfest in the mix-a-six section of the cooler and enough of them to make a sixer mixer!
