Still has super looks. The smell is a fine blend of mildly roasted grain with a touch of cocoa and vanilla sweetness. The taste is lightly sweet, bringing cocoa nibs, light baker's chocolate, and a light hop bitterness to round things out; very faint smoked malt note. Medium body; smooth and velvety; excellent residual sugar presence; generally sweet mouthfeel throughout.

Oh, yeah! This is a wonderful annual offering from one of Colorado Springs early brewers. The balance, depth, and subtle complexity are awesome. No fancy adjuncts, just a well-crafted old-school porter.

    Poured at 61 °F; 2021 vintage (Love)

Served at the brewery's tasting room 2/17/12

The pint glass had a black-bodied beer with a one-finger thick, tan head. The head dissipated quickly yet left nice lacing and rings down the glass.

The smell primarily signaled roasted grains and dark bread.

The taste was of roasted malts and toasted grains; there was a light hop bitterness.

    Body seemed light-to-medium in character.

This porter was good and refreshing. It was not overly strong and seemed nicely balanced between the malt flavors and hop bitterness. Nothing stunning overall, but very decent and satisfying.

I remember Wine from years ago, probably when Lindows came out. Never liked it then but maybe it's something to revisit. If I can get PaintShop Pro (with Nik4 plugins), Hugin, and Photomatix to work, I may forego dual-booting at least one of my laptops...thanks...:sunglasses:

And, no, I'm not a fan of GIMP so far. I use it on occasion, but still find its interface to be clumsy compared to PSP, Photoshop, or even Snapseed on Android.

    Good evening BA
My wife and I had the day off together with no kids today. Naturally, she lined up a relaxing day of cleaning out the garage and yard barn, cutting grass and dealing with some shrubs she thought needed to go. She's baking banana bread now and I'm having a beer courtesy of @BigIronH

Epic Brewing Co. (SLC) -- Imperial Pumpkin Porter (pumpkin ale)

Dark mahogany body, nearly opaque; thick and creamy light tan head. A strange aroma, not like pumpkin or grain; some sweet, lightly roasted malt. Outstanding taste; beautiful base porter, rich and chocolatey with notes of grain char; light cocoa; sweet, spicy pumpkin; very low-key booziness percolating below the malt sweetness. Medium-heavy body; rich and smooth on the palate; velvety residual sugars; semi-sweet.

I'm inclined to believe that Epic is getting better and better with this beer. There is no doubt about this beer's imperial porter baseline. What's nice is that the pumpkin is overpowering yet is solidly present in the taste. A fine Autumn beer to enjoy while watching gray skies and colorful leaves.

    Poured at 58 °F; ABV - 8.9 %; RELEASE 48, SLC 7295

Very nice looks with a thick and lasting head; sheets of foam paint the inside of the glass. The aroma remains much the same. The taste also remains much the same yet it seems more top-notch than seven years ago; it's balanced with nutty and pumpkin flavors and incredibly approachable; it doesn't hammer you with excessive pumpkin or boozy flavors. The mouthfeel is smooth and soft.

Perhaps my tastes have matured and changed, but whatever the reason, this is one fine pumpkin ale.
    -----------------
Pours a dark mahogany color with a thick, foamy head. Roasted grains, a tad bit of chocolate, and a spicy, pumpkin-like aroma; allspice, nutmeg, and dulled cinnamon notes; cocoa. Nice combination of malt sweetness and hop bitterness in the taste, closely following the aroma. Medium-light body; semi-sweet, clean finish.

Flavor-wise, this beer comes across like a rich, chocolate-spicy pumpkin cookie. Somewhat light feel overall, but the aroma and taste make this a beer worth exploring. Excellent depth and complexity with the flavors. A really good, interesting twist on the pumpkin ale style.
