Decided to give Grimm's attempt at a west coast IPA a chance: Classic Rewind. Didn't nail it, but still good. Clear, check, bitter piney finish, check. Grainy/vaguely fruity in the middle?

Taking a three day weekend starting tomorrow. The plan is to head up to Helen, GA for some late Oktoberfesting. I'll be posting some Alpine Helen pics and beers tomorrow. Kicking off my festing a little early with Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier. Prost BA's!

Coming from the King of Chicago Brewing with a new to me Schwar

    Revolution Usethe Schwarz

Brewery Notes: 5.0% ABV, $7 16 oz draft served in a Pilsner glass.

Our light bodied German-style Black Lager, or Schwarzbier, is a smooth, malt-forward brew, with earthy-roasty notes and a biting hop finish. May the Schwarz be with you!

Appearance: Near pitch black pour with a bit of brown peaking through. Creamy white tan head leaves spotty lacing and thin cover over the base. 4.0

    Aroma:
Bold rye pumpernickel bread, sweet caramel. Dark chocolate, roast coffee. Nice roast malt holds it all together. 4.5

    Taste:
Starts lighter and less complex than the aroma. Roast malt and caramel lead, breast as well. Taste emerges similar from m strength to aroma as this warms. Getting the chocolate and dark roast coffee. Caramel a bit salty. Very nice. 4.25

    Mouthfeel:
Light to medium body, slight carbonation, sweet flavors contained by hops that reins in excess sweetness, nice balance. Pleasant salty caramel aftertaste. 4.0

    Overall:
Im not very familiar with this style, but this beer hits the style notes, and is very enjoyable. I love exploring these new beers from Revolution, typically on point to excellent. Defiantly recommend this one. 4.25

Founders Nemesis barley wine is hitting the spot. Nice and bitter with a deceptively sweet nose. Cheers!

Good afternoon, advocates. Death Tripper from Tired Hands. This batch is OK. I haven't had any of their beers in a short while, but it hasn't been on purpose. I'm not mad at you Jean, FWIW. Cheers!

Oblivex from Tired Hands. Does not taste like I remembered, and I probably had it less than 2-3 months ago. Take from that what you will. Peace...

Schwarzbier is a VERY underappreciated style. First time I had one I was amazed at how drinkable it was without being heavy and filling. It has some nice dark malt flavors and aromas. Some of my local breweries start bringing out their Schwarzbiers this time of year and it's s nice change.

Work and 3 mile run in the 94 degree heat index complete. Thankfully the pool water temp is still 86 degrees. Liter of Powerade down the hatch, light beer time......
