Maybe you could be that intrepid BA?

"Perhaps some intrepid BA could create a list of hated breweries and assign them a time period (a month?) so we can coordinate our hate!?!"

    Cheers!

Perhaps, but unlikely considering I enjoy beer from all the stated breweries. I’m just well acquainted with the breweries a lot of BA’s “love to hate”.

    Cheers!

Will drink it if I find it.

Forgot to say that likewise @BigIronH, and like other BAs most every breweries named before here and that some of us have issues with for very different reasons have beers I absolutely dig.

Lagunitas isn’t getting some hate today, this week or next month btw?

We will have to await that elusive, intrepid BA's decision here? Maybe they will assign February to Lagunitas since it is the shortest month?

    Cheers!

I just want to comment/observe that a post I started about a new beer that is available transitioned into a discussion about breweries that are hated to a new thread started by @Ffenski on that topic.

Always quite 'interesting' to see how a thread(s) evolve.

    Cheers!

Dang. I saw this today at a local deli that has an excellent beer lineup. I was there to pick up a second helping of Lawsons Triple Sunshine. I looked twice, once cause it was LA Trappe (good), once that it was BrewDog (umm). And a third cause it was a Quad. Will prolly have to go back.

This is hilarious ... I personally can't stand Brew Dog but love love visiting their Canal Winchester Tap Toom.

There are many times when a brewer's branding or packaging, etc., will bring to my mind Samuel Johnson's famous quote on patriotism (likely I've quoted it myself in BA threads concerning some AB products or some "military" themed brewpub). In this case, I'd use Andy Rooney's paraphrase:
Although, in this case, one might presume (until further information on the background of the beer is revealed) that the abbey is hoping some of Brewdog's image of "hipness" - however false or misplaced - is the refuge it is seeking.

Of course, I'm seeing that from the point of view of a reader of the late Christopher Hitchens (gone 10 years now) - much of the geekery appears to buy into and give mindless respect for the religiosity and mysticism of the marketing of the Trappist beers.

Not a bad suggestion for the tasting planning thread: Beers from breweries we hate

“Religion is the last refuge of a scoundrel. Patriotism is next to last.”

I suppose there is little doubt where a religious Patriot resides on that scale!?! :grimacing:

    Cheers!

The quote is about neither true patriots nor theists, but about refuge-seeking scoundrels.
