Also got this very nice Christmas present from my mother-in-law, the most important part the beer made it, but the glasses, well, not so much. Still really cool that I got one of these!

Yeah, I called her and let her know the glasses didn't make it, sucks, but the trials and tribulations of shipping. I'm still stoked I have 6 bottles of fantastic beer, and really glad they all made it without a problem.

Kinda regretting passing on a box of the Westy XII. Could've easily gotten two bricks. Oh well. Do kinda wish I had one of those glasses now.

Not REALLY a haul, but a bit of a story... took these home over the weekend.

So, the explanation. Finally went to a new friends house Saturday night. I knew he was into beer, but had no idea. Had a couple pints of his homebrew (two of four he'd brewed, a Citra IPA and a Kolsch, both were great) and he showed me his beer fridges. Good god. So much goodness, I can't even give it justice. Long story short, he just GAVE me the Abacus and 2011 Parabola as they were overflow from his main beer fridge. Dude was seriously just like, "What is this? Oh, here, take these".

So, I had passed on bottles of 2012 The Abyss a couple times (have a 2011 bottle in the fridge, have had past vintages out of bottles on tap and just had 2012 on tap the other night), but ran into what may be the very last bottle on a shelf in the Phoenix valley the other night and just had to buy it. The guy I'm talking about has The Abyss back through 2009 with at least three bottles of each, but missed 2012. So, one bottle may not be a lot, but will still keep his vertical going and is just a small "thanks" for what he gave me. I expect we will be sharing some seriously good beers throughout next year.

Just came home to a mix six from Mr. Jew Brew himself: danedelman. He is the best homebrewer I know and makes some killer beers. His labels are tasteful, well designed, tell a story, and even have bottle dates on the IPAs. That's better then some commercial brewers. This mix includes a fresh (5 day old? Is this shit even carbed yet?) IPA, an English barley wine, a triple, a squash beer with Brett, a rye with peppercorns, and a Flanders red that according to the label can be cellared for up to 30 years. I'm sure it will be amazing in 3 decades but there is no way it will last that long in my house. Cheers Dan!
