That Anaphora b3 beer from New Image sounds pretty great, but I won't start a new box right after one closes. I just can't do it. But boy, is that label a copy of a Side Project label or what?

Leavenworth, I'll have to try again but they weren't shipping in to me 2020 when i moved here and said they had no plan to figure it out.

I just checked and they still don't ship to Leavenworth, in fact they also "don't ship to Wichita". I tried that zip as well with no luck.

That beer sounded good until I hit the $31 for 500ML. Hard pass.

You can’t compare to Anchorage prices. The closer you get to a waxed Anchorage bottle the nature of price versus value warps, like a black hole.

Almost the opposite of making a deal with the devil, wouldn’t you say?

Nope, exactly like making a deal with the devil. He always offers less for more...

6k showed up for me, was already sold out. Thankfully my local bottle shop remembered I had requested it, and saved me some bottles.

I find Tavour frustrating as hell. Their model of the customer shipping a box a month is not how I purchase beer; I tend to ship 2 or possibly 3x a year. So the likelihood they run out (aka "broken bottles") is a regular excuse. :/

That's wild. It looks like they deliver to the Kansas City area via Edwardsville, KS. I would think that'd put the crate closer to you than it is me. Though, the local courier they use is based in Kansas City, MO. Then again, it could be an alcohol state license thing, in which the local courier only has a license to deliver in Missouri. Total speculation on my part there.

I'm not entirely sure if the effort is worthwhile, but if you can find a proxy / willing business to ship to in the Kansas City area, you could have crates delivered there.

FWIW, Tavour stopped delivering to my area in 2020 (I think) as well. Perhaps it was the same courier that previously delivered to your area. Tavour said they weren't prioritizing adding back my area, but have since re-started shipping to my area as of at least nine months ago. It may be worthwhile to watch and see if they add on new courier services to reach your area.

Finally gave in and made my first purchase. A couple Cycle stouts popped up on my feed. Fingers crossed they make it ok.

I had Friday pop up for me today. I passed. They're going to have to throw something real nice at me to get me to start a new box. Which is why I was really happy B6K showed up while my last box was open.

Speaking of, got my box with B6K and ADWTD and a few other things today. I know there are a lot of horror stories on here about delivery. The local courier for all of my boxes has been United Delivery Service. I have to say, I've been very pleased with them. Boxes in good shape, arrived mostly on time, and they leave it without a signature (which I'm thankful for because I've been back IP at work since Sept 2020 and am never home). Today they even stashed it behind our porch furniture per the note we have on our door because we've been dealing with some porch pirates lately. Was a little nervous with this one, so glad it all ended well again.

I have been pleased with the new local courier in my area too. They've somehow managed to call me while I'm onsite the last two deliveries, but tracking suggests they passed my current crate (B6k & ADWTD) off to our building mail staff yesterday. Hopefully I have those bottles in hand today.

Funny enough, if they delivered tomorrow, they'd be 3 for 3 on missing me. Fortunately, I'm able to receive the crate at my work.

It will take quite a bit to get me to open a new crate though. I would say I've only drank maybe an eighth of the last two crates I've received....

EDIT to say: I do wish Tavour could offer this service without having to use misc. couriers.

Wondering if courier services is an out of state thing? I'm in Washington and UPS delivers mine

I think a company has to obtain an alcohol delivery permit for a specific carrier within a specific state. What I am not sure of is how alcohol deliver works across state lines.

As best as I can tell, Tavour is using third party transportation companies to ship crates to local couriers, who then take over delivering the crate to customers. Part of this belief is founded in the fact that my crates have a shipping label that shows the sender's name as "Tavour" and the shipping address as within Kansas City. When you look up the senders address, it pulls up the local courier service. The missing link is how those beers get from Washington to Missouri (though, tracking showed it had a warehouse destination in Kansas at one point.)

Crate closed last week with hardly anything interesting popping on my feed between ADWTD and the close. Cafe deth, a couple Georgetown offerings, and a couple cans of Equilibrium. After the crate closed? A whole shit ton of stouts and Belgians, and some Anchorage ipas. I'm not biting. Fuck algorithms.

I don’t think this is “an algorithm thing” so much as it is a “purchasing/marketing/consumer psychology” thing. Once you have ADWTD in your cart, you’re more likely to put anything there to reduce the associated cost of shipper (per bottle). Once that cart is closed, you need something else new to entice you to open a new one.

This is analogous to offering one promotion at a time. McDonalds has little reason to increase the number of $1 menu offerings if the McRib is back. The McRib is already bringing people in, and once here they are likely to buy other food. Yes the same thing can be said about ADWTD, but the point is once that shipping cost (a sunk cost in this case) is already incurred, there’s no barrier to adding more bottles, just like how getting a customer into the store (in the case of the McRib or other promotions) is the hard part.
