I can’t compare this to anything strong toasted malt flavor. Glad I was able to grab a four pack.

 

Two things around me that will never go away, coffee shops and Vietnamese restaurants. Sometimes combined, and I love them all ha. Yeah, Houston has a lot of Vietnamese immigrants that way as well, and its a huge part of the city IMO. All outside media wants to portray Houston as BBQ and Steaks, Vietnamese food is where its at for us though, or at least in my experience.

 

Sasquash was pretty spicy but delicious. Carolina reaper pepper weren't overdone. Nice apple fruit complexity. Semisweet.


Four saints barrel aged bitter brothers esb. This was very good. Nose was a mostly boozy barrel and fruit. Malt comes in as it warms. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, herbal, grass; light pepper, roast, dark fruit, yeast earthiness. Bit of diacetyl and papery oxidation, but not overwhelming. Lt med herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness; and oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Creamy/silky/bready lt med body. Lt sticky hops and oak tannins drying. No cloying flavors. Warming/boozy barrel lingering after the finish. Worked out well for a bba session beer. Probably spent a while in the barrel. It was very heavy on the barrel character. Good style example. 3.78
