You should be agonizing over the selection process for every BIF box you send. Get the seekabrew list for your target's state. Read your target's wants a dozen times. Read the BIF rules two dozen times. Print all three out and bring them to the bottle shop and/or cellar to make your selections wisely and carefully. For Christ's sake, check bottling and sell-by dates on IPAs. You need to be absolutely sure that each and every bottle will put a smile on your target's face.

In music/movie/etc. BIFs, you should be watching and listening to tons of material before making your selections. Nothing feels better than absolutely blowing your target's mind with something obscure that totally nails their tastes.

If this doesn't sound like your process, you're probably doing it wrong, and I hope you never send to me.

...and with all of this having been said, I'm pretty much done with BIFs anyway.

I was going to join a BIF, but you just cant get movies, or unused Koozies in Indiana. Sorry, but some of you are really gullible.

As the recipient of said 2nd trade, and knowing what's inside the box.

    You're fine.

Interested to see what happens now, brendan4532 is in our Secret Santa BIF, he got a box last Friday, and hasn't posted a peep since in that thread. Today the organizer is asking who hasn't shipped yet, since the rules said the box had to be there by the 22, looks like someone did not meet the requirements....again. More reason to blacklist this guy.

While I'm all for blacklisting him until he's corrected all his past wrongs, I don't think we should jump the gun and say he messed that one up too.. he's got 2 days for his box to land.

Let's at least keep the torches unlit and the pitchforks on the ground until Saturday. 2 days is plenty of time to ship to half the country, and for all we know the box is already well in transit. Given this thread, I'd also be surprised if Cuzco hasn't been in contact with him.

I don't participate in many BiFs, but always enjoyed them. Hate to see someone get hit with a bad/underwhelming box. Hopefully it will be made up for in some way.

I think that depends on how you define bomb. I could've easily sent that box, those all are/were shelf beers in CA (except the BCBS).

Don't get me wrong, it's a fine box that I think anyone on the east coast would be happy to get, but it's also not like "OMG BEST BOX EVAR". I think it would be pretty easy for Brandon's box to meet/surpass that one. I suppose everyone on BA will be watching...

Yep, thats why I didnt say "OMG BEST BOX EVER". Its a CA bomb. Solid selection of west coast beer and a great BIF box, I think anyone would be stoked to receive. Does a Secret Santa box need whales now to be considered a bomb... I think not.

Pretty easy for Brandon's box to meet/surpass... lol

Why is that lol? A dozen good Cigar City/Terrapin/etc beers to someone who hasn't had any, along with the requisite swag, would be a pretty much equivalent box. Throw in something special like Leon or Hunahpu's (again if the recipient hasn't had them) and you've surpassed it. This guy is perfectly capable of sending something better than he received, we'll see if he does.

The next bif should require you to mail some pre-modern weapon like a chairleg with nails sticking out. Something like the "Aggressively Passive-Aggressive Bif"

No disrespect bro, but say something in the thread. Not sure if you have been following it, but half the fun is telling people your boxes shipped, what direction they are going, when they are gonna land, why they need to re-enforce the porch, and to lift with their legs, or a fork lift.
