Thing 2 came home for Fall break so we all headed South to see Purdue at Maryland today. We're 4 rows behind the Purdue bench so takin' in this game with subdued grace and goin' undercover neutral ...



... with a Heavy Seas Loose Cannon (Maryland brewed) and an inconspicuous hoodie to stay warm in an ocean of black and gold.





(Go Maryland! ...***Shhhhh***...) !!

 

Getting a bit of an early jump on the festivities for the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry - Auburn vs Georgia. Going appropriately local with a Festbier Marzen from Akademia Brewing Co. in Athens, GA. Probably a good thing this brewpub is about 2 hours from me or I'd be there all the time. Made from Southeast grown barley. Hits all the check boxes in quaffable 5.8% ABV. These guys aren't that well known for their lagers but the brewer there does a great job with most of them, including this one and their Altbier coming out soon. Prost all!

I had to do a double-check of your post to see the word "deep" - and then double-check my own facts as I thought UVa-UNC had what is called the oldest rivalry in the south. Not that it's anywhere near as exciting as the Auburn - Georgia series.

Also, I can't agree with your quiet rooting interest, @jzeilinger, but have fun in the DC area, if you can. Agree with that fourth and short in the red zone, @russpowell?

 

Walking around Rochester NY and I'm quite amazed by some of the views. This is right next to the Genesee Brewery.

Thanks. Not as amazing as the places you are visiting at the moment though. Namibia is a place I've always been curious about!

 

I didn't due to time limitations, but I may do so later tonight. I have stopped by a few craft beer stores so far and stocked up on some local delicacies. Quite impressed with AJ's.

 

It's a beautiful day in New England.

 

Key word there is Deep South I guess. Auburn/UGA has a special rivalry both because the series is so close and Auburn recruits North & Central GA heavily. Fun rivalry for sure. UVa & UNC have had some crazy games in the past.
