Happy hour and late lunch time...at Better Luck Tomorrow, which is one of the better food/cocktail/beer places in town, with the best happy hour as well. That happens to be just down the road from me

True Anomaly Rocket Park Pale Ale. Starting The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro. As I recall @JayORear is a big fan, with good reason

Got the steak and crab cakes...

Cocktail...The Long Story Short. Gin, Vermouth and Passion Fruit. Basically a martini with a dried passion fruit garnish, and its excellent.

@beergoot is a bad influence on me.

But at least I did not include a cigar unless of course I tried smoking this soon-to-be 41 year old cigar.

...a King Edwards...!?!...probably just as tasty as the day it was made...sprinkle some Maker's Mark on it if it needs a little freshening...cheap white wine will do if you don't want to waste the bourbon...:sunglasses:

Yes, sir. Literally all else comes to a halt when a new Ishiguro novel is released.

ShortFuse Brewing Blind Fury flavored imperial stout with vanilla, Oreos, and marshmallows at 10%.
As stated on the label: "Dessert in a glass"

I don't usually have pudding before I eat my meat, and I won't finish this Oreo syrup, but they attained the dessert beer they strove for. It's just not for me. And, I am very surprised this beer is the only one in the database named Blind Fury. It's not even aged in whiskey, or double dry hopped. Ses like an over the top name for dessert.

I saw this a few times at my local used book store (at different times), but didn't pick it up for whatever reason. After I got it in my mind I was going to pick this up, the copies had already been sold. Then, a few weeks ago, it popped up again in the newly acquired section. So I jumped on it. Always excited to start a new to me Ishiguro novel.

At age 29 I did not have a lot of disposable income to buy good cigars. Mortgage payments. My college loans. My wife’s college loans. Car payment. Damn, my heart is racing remembering how crushing it all felt.

There are five cigars left. All hard as a rock. I would not even waste cheap wine on them.

Yes sir, that's a given. Beer may get warm but powder and primers are always protected. I looked today, 5000 SPP used to cost $130, they are still $659 under current conditions. Cheers and get ready for Nicole's rain this weekend!

Safely back home with a Guayabera, and prep for tomorrow night's shrimp tacos. FYI the container isn't cinnamon, it what she puts taco seasoning in.....

...my Grandfather Perl gave me a plug of chewing tobacco when I was born in '57'...had it for years (before I got into tobacco - and yes, I chewed some and even did snuff for a bit as well as cigarettes in my wild and impressionable youth and young adult stages of my life - can't stand tobacco now other than a good cigars on occasion - and those in moderation)...wish I still had that plug along with my baby bracelet and his hand-written note to me (I have no record what he wrote to me nearly 66 years ago)...all lost to the detritus of time...

...keep those old KE fire sticks and treasure the memory...and don't be a tight wad and buy and enjoy yourself a good cigar soon...I understand they pair well with good beer and bourbon (I've seen pictures on BA along those lines)...
