Enjoying a Celebration with round 2 after having a Foothills Sexual Chocolate with round 1 which surprisingly was a heavy roasted and hopped imperial stout with a light touch of cocoa adjunct. Turned out to be much better than expected.
    Cheers!

Leinenkugel's Toasted Bock, 5.1% ABV. Pours dark brown, with a one-finger beige head that left no lacing on the fine plastic cup. Nose is toasted malt. Taste is toast, faintly bitter. Excellent mouthfeel, overall excellent.

This was a free beer I got with my hotel room in Chippewa Falls, WI, home of Leinenkugel's. I suspect that the brewery provides these at most/all hotels in town. I had a choice of others, but this sounded good, and it was. Just occurred to me - I paid for two rooms, should have gotten two beers.

Agreed - it's a bit different than most other brown ales too. Uniquely Berkshires.

[IMG] Tonight’s Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Alaskan Winter Ale (6.4%): A Winter Warmer from Alaska with flavors of dark bread malt, sweet grape, and chocolate. Malty, yet drinkable.
    versus
    2) Deschutes Jubedale (6.7%): A Winter Warmer from California that has flavors of citrus, roasted caramel, and bitter pine.
    versus
    3) New Belgium Holiday Ale (7.5%): A Winter Warmer from Colorado with flavors of cranberry and cinnamon spices.

    4) Hubbard’s Cave Fresh IIPA One Hop Simcoe (8.5% canned 8/17/22): A NEIPA from Illinois with Simcoe for flavors of resinous tangerine, earthy grapefruit, and a smooth malty body.
    versus
    5) Toppling Goliath Soul Hunter (7.8% canned 9/8/22): A NEIPA from Iowa with Simcoe Cryo and Riwaka for flavors of sweet orange flower, pineapple, and mango.
(mismatched #1 and #2 blind, correctly matched the rest)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    1) Alaskan Winter Ale: New Belgium drinks like an autumn harvest tea with cinnamon spices, but not quite my "cup of tea". Jubedale drinks much more bitter and piney than I remember.... maybe even up the alley of Celebration. If Alaskan Brewery can do one thing that is make malty beers. This one has tons of dark bread, toasted flavor with some smooth chocolate notes within. Lots of flavor, yet a drinkable ABV.

    5) Toppling Goliath Soul Hunter: Approaching three months out and still drinking at top quality. Nice balance of sweet orange, pineapple, and mango balanced by the bitter floral notes. It may be getting even better with some age on it. Simcoe and Riwaka are a great combination here.

Told myself I wouldn't buy any BCBS this year because I just don't need it. Have too much from previous years...but now I'm feeling left out.
Breaking out some 14 from last year to compensate. Tasting quite good actually. Cheers!
