1) Great Lakes’ Ohio City Oatmeal Stout (5.4%): An oatmeal stout from Ohio with flavors of bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee, some smooth oats with a dry finish.

2) Saugatuck G.O.A.T (6.5%): An oatmeal stout from Wisconsin with flavors of rich milk chocolate, cream, and vanilla. Smooth and creamy. (Correctly matched the two blind)

2) Saugatuck G.O.A.T.:
Great Lakes makes a great Oatmeal Stout. Bittersweet cocoa, some English malts, oats an dry. Very much to style. I've always found Oatmeal Stouts sort of underwhelming and weak. Saugatuck ramps it up with huge flavors of rich milk chocolate with a creamy body. Maybe not as much to style, but tons of great flavors and nails the rich creamy body of how I think oatmeal stouts should drink. Sort of reminds me of Founders Porter. Self-proclaimed as the greatest of all time, and this is darn enjoyable.

Oh definitively up my alley! Interestingly enough I have some great stouts in the fridge but have not been in the mood for them for some odd reason.

So those lovely hoppy notes: YES PLEASE!

 

This morning the back stone porch was covered with black ice…the day has warmed up a bit…drinking another Zombie Dust:

Damn, that first beer went down way too easily. That deserves another before I commit to the daily cooking ritual. This has a much more robust taste out of the can than the bottle

2022 Bourbon County Brand Stout, I haven't had this for 2 years for various reasons had almost forgotten how good it is. Great brew

This one is tasting quite delicious!!

 

Third Space Ice Bear (9.5%): A Baltic Porter from Wisconsin with flavors of bittersweet chocolate, cocoa, lightly leathery and smokey. Hides the alcohol well and finishes clean and dry. Just the right flavor, dryness, and ABV for a Baltic Porter. Well done here.

Red Rock - Elephino DIPA

Digging into my stash of Utah beers sent to me by @NorsemanOne with this DIPA from Red Rock. Nicely bitter and very herbaceous with notes of tea and botanicals like the ones used in the making of Becherovka. Very enjoyable.

 

This has to be the slowest Thursday in a while here, at the VB.

 

Makes my some nachos for me and the girl. Wife's out of town, and it's time to eat rather unhealthily.
