Just checking in - the big "C" went well today even though I still had a lot of undue anxiety beforehand. Everyone at the surgical center was really nice and helpful and I woke up a little shaky from the anesthesia but was fine in about 5 minutes. Rest of the day I've felt pretty good, especially after getting something to eat. They said no alcohol today so I will abide by their wisdom. Honestly, the prep wasn't as bad as I anticipated - you just need a plan on how to drink all that liquid - I found that drinking it chilled and through a straw worked really well. It's also helpful to have an 8 oz glass so you can easily track how much you've drank.

@mickyge - they seemed to really be concerned as to whether I drank the 2nd half this morning, so it must be important - I think I got asked 3 or 4 times. I got up at 4 am and drank the remaining 1/2 gallon by 5:30 am. My daughter hung out with me for the afternoon and we watched the original Changeling with George C. Scott, good flick. She considers it one of the creepiest movies she's seen. So all in all - a good day and all it's all behind me now. They did remove a couple of polyps which they will biopsy so depending on the results of that, next one is in 3 to 5 years, can't wait

Glad you made it through OK. I've been through a few myself and that prep is just no fun. Also, good choice skipping the alcohol today, you really don't want to mix anything with the drugs that are still in your system from the procedure. Hope the polyps come back benign!


Time to finish the afternoon off with a Jack's Abby Smoke & Dagger. This often varies for me depending on what my palate is doing on a given day. Today I'm getting a ton of smoke and roast bitterness. Quite wonderful how much flavor the folks at JA can pack into a beer that verges on light bodied.
