After seeing them perform in many Winter Olympic Games, I tend to believe that saying.

"Norway is the most successful nation of all time at the Winter Olympic Games, having amassed a total of 368 medals since the first Winter Olympics in 1924 – this tally includes 132 gold medals, 125 silver, and 111 bronze."

    Stay warm!

Do We Live In a Society of Spectacle (Nelson)? Thankful af and, when I say that, I mean it. Peace...

Vibrant, milky yellow haze. Smell is aloe, gooseberry, grapefruit, white wine (f*ck yesss) and faint, bready malt. Taste follows w/ additional hints of grape and passion fruit. Mouthfeel is prickly w/ medium carbonation and a peppery, astringent finish. I would have preferred a chewier element on the palate, but overall, this is an excellent, judicious use of Nelson. It's on fire.

Really cool you host your tribute to the @kingofhop each year @tolar111 !
I have an Oklahoma beer to honor Rick to start, and will try to find a Miller High Life stovepipe today or later this week to toast his memory as his daughter Hannah posted for his memory.

Full take in the Cellar Reviews thread. Bottom line, this beer continues to hold up well, but oxidation notes are creeping in, and I'm planning to enjoy my final bottle over the next month or two.

What's your source for Root & Branch - do they distribute to your area? They're nowhere to be found around here.

They don't distro as of yet. I used to spend a lot of time on LI w/ the gf. We still have connections back there.

Taken in 1982. We were driving to the beach and I said "STOP'. I had no idea this sign was out in the South Carolina boondocks. That's my best friend for 67 years. Martha took the photo.

Some basement dust on this one. Remember when I bought this four pack back in 2016 thinking it was too sweet. Still is too sweet but I'm trying to get rid of the older beers I have downstairs.

Russian River Brewing Co. -- Robert Saison
    Traditional farmhouse ale
    ABV: 6.2%; pouring temperature: 45 °F; bottling info: 040422
    Source: local purchase

    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Pours and initially clear, golden hue; yeast sediment from top off pours yields a slightly cloudy appearance; dense, gentle rising carbonation; immense head, white and rocky; sticky web of foam inside the glass. A beautifully subdued aroma; light, bready malt infused with spicy and aromatic notes of citrus, white pepper and star anise. Muted flavors at first that evolve to a more herbal and phenolic character; mild white grapefruit flavor with a peppery edge. Medium body with a light roughness on the palate; semi-dry.

The initial scent to the nose was very intriguing and suggested some great flavors, but the taste was a bit muted and the mouthfeel a little weak. Still, a decent no-frills saison.
