It's hard to determine my favorite part of dealing with Shelton. The list of in stock items, that never seem to be sent or the amount of time it takes to get whatever they do send from your order.

Ithaca uses the woefully craft inept Seneca Beverage as their AB house. We were lucky to get Bourbon County never mind the variants.

We deal with the entities on their own. Where they all roll up to L. Knife, we deal with them as if they were there own organization. You can also see different companies use an L Knife downstate (Union) and then maybe a different one for Upstate. That makes for some issues you might see in distribution and availability of certain beers.

We use L Knife companies throughout NY to help make it easier to manage. We only have 4 guys in our company and anything we can do to help make things a bit easier is the way we try to roll.

thanks for asking this question. all of this is fascinating reading. i wish it could be rolled up into a FAQ that included a description of the 3-tier system, what is involved with getting through the NYS Liquor Control Board, who all of the distributors are and where they're located, and where I could find some Cherry Rye.
