Will be staying overnight in a few weeks, coming from PA

I know Two Roads is close in Stratford

New Haven is not too far…went there several years ago and enjoyed the New England and Counterweight beers I had...I heard good things about 12 percent

more looking for things to go but hope to be able to enjoy a couple somewhere

please post some recommendations for beer and maybe some food...I remember getting a sandwich from Gaetano's that was good

Tribus in Milford is a nice stop. Started up by two former interns at New England Brewing. Wines and More- just a few miles away, is a solid local mom and pop shop as well.

I second Tribus. When they are on, they are great. I like going to Two Roads if not just for the atmosphere alone. Dockside Brewing in Milford, right down the road from Tribus, usually has a pretty good list on tap as well--with several good offerings from other breweries.

From someone non-local, but I've done a mini-brewery crawl from southwest to northeast of Two Roads -> New England Brewing -> Twelve Percent -> Counterweight. All very good

If you want a good selection to go, Amity Wine & Spirits right near New England Brewing is a nice spot. Just went last week while passing by on the Cross Parkway and the beer guy was very helpful. Alerted me to the Lawson's Haze Rays cans in stock before I saw it mentioned in this forum.

Others may know stores closer in to Bridgeport.

Just an FYI, Counterweight moved to Cheshire right near the Southington town line, so they're a bit more north of that area now - about a 25 minute drive. 12% would be a fun place to hit up though, you can get such a variety there.

I've had a good lager from berlinetta brewing in Bridgeport but haven't been able to check out the tap room - looks nice though.

Just a slight adjustment, to give credit where it's due. Matt and Seb were both brewers at NEBCo. Might've even been head brewers after Matt Westfall left to start Counterweight, but not 100% sure about that.

This is very true. Both brewers for a while there, and as you said maybe even head brewers. Was typing quickly, my bad.

I’m surprised no one’s mentioned the obvious only brewery in Bridgeport, Brewport. Not earth shattering, but solid beer and pizza. Definitely worth a stop, I’d put it in the underrated category actually (though haven’t been in a couple years).

How do we feel about Bad Sons in Derby?

How do you feel about them? I’ve had a couple of their beers which have been good. Do they have an on-site experience that warrants a visit?

The beers are all at least decent but there's a few bangers. The space is beautiful with a nice dog-friendly outdoor space and they have Roseland Apizza on site. Nice big shuffleboard table in the taproom is cool, too.
