Understood. I was pointing out that, while missus and me mostly spent our time in central Amsterdam I was indeed slightly disappointed to not find more real Dutch beers and craft one at that. Fortunately you made up for that with the brillant haul.

You’re right about post war Netherlands though, Luftwaffe and Goering. They ultimately got what they deserved.

    Cheers!

Alsace is a truly beautiful region of France and out of those having a shore like Normandy or Britanny my favorite. Strasbourg is worth the trip too, but it’s a city with good and bad things.

I believe you’ll really enjoy this Alsatian journey Belgian friend.

    Santé!

Normandy is on the list to revisit. Visited it + 20 years ago with my parents and it was beautiful. Opale coast is also nice imo. Dont know if we will visit Strasbourg but Colmar is definatly on our list! Cheers!

The trouble with having to pop over the shop for something is that the pub is on the way back. Shame they don't have anything better on though.

The tourist locations in central Amsterdam are somewhat owned by Amstel / Heineken I think. Most of the time the cafe's / pubs have a financial arrangement with the brewer when it comes to renting or leasing a property. I guess in the small print there are plenty of rules excluding non Heineken owned beers.
I was somewhat surprised that you did no see T' IJ anywhere. But I'm not form Amsterdam. Only get there for work about 4 times a year  I'll bring some T'IJ when we have a next meetup.
Say hello to the missus too !
    Cheers

    1) Modist Forest of Bones (4.8%): A dry-hopped Italian Pils aged in oak barrels for flavors of lemon zest, citrus flower, bitter flower and a crisp finish.
    versus
    2) Insight Avant Dry Hopped Pils (5.0% canned 4/18/23): A dry-hopped German Pils from Minnesota with flavors of lemon citrus, earthy, oaky, and smooth cereal malt flavors. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) Modist Forest of Bones:
Minnesota Dry-Hopped Pilsner Battle. Third try at Insight Avant. Has fluctuated for me from each try and noticed that it falls off quickly with age. Still decently fresh, but leans more earthy and oaky than I remember. Makes it a good beer battle I suppose because it's up against Forest of Bones from Modist that was aged in oak barrels to give it that earthy and oaky quality. It's extremely hoppy and drinks clean with a strong bitterness. Everything about this is fantastic. Modist seems to be consistently making some of the best pilsners I've had.

If you have a car, definitely would add Riquewihr to your visit list; cute little micro-brewery in town ( Brasserie du Vignoble) and the village and vineyard scenery are just BONKERS. But that applies to most of that Route des Vins area... enjoy!

    Hey BAs!

Just back from a couple hours at da beach. Kinda bored with that, and it's too hot to sit and drink down there.

Haven't had an Allagash in quite a long while. Always nice to revisit.

Done working for the day - having a Hadley Grass at the moment. Minor showers/downpours just started moving through the area. Making some meatballs and sauce - going to have a meatball sandwich on sourdough baguette for dinner, been craving it all day.

    1) Equilibrium Ocean Vibes (8.0% canned 5/11/23): A NEIPA from NY with Citra, Idaho 7, Galaxy, Sabro lactose for flavors of orange, green guava, tropical pineapple and melon, pineapple, with some mango creamsicle.
    versus
    2) Equilibrium Origami Paper Airplanes (8.0% canned 5/17/23): A NEIPA from NY with Enigma, Mosaic, and Columbus for flavors of candied orange, tangerine, dank peach and mango. Earthy and clean. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) Equilibrium Ocean Vibes:
EQ Haze battle. First try at Origami Paper Airplanes Drinks pretty welland has some dank notes from the Enigma and Columbus. Relatively speaking though, and overall still the same EQ juice. Fairly dry and drinkable though. Coming back to Ocean Vibes. The Sabro gives it a tropical pineapple with just a hint of coconut with the classic EQ mango creamsicle flavors. Very similar, but preferred Ocean Vibes. Another day of EQ IPAs is a good day.
