New Image '22 9505 (blended barrel aged barleywine finished on Amburana wood) thanks to @Prager62. The barrel aged barleywine in itself is high quality and enjoyable, but the amburana wood treatment adds a big layer of complexity to an already complex beer. I can see why this won silver for the barrel aged barleywine category at FOBAB. Reminiscent of many sweet dishes, such as bread pudding, apple pie, and cinnamon roll with caramelized apples. Fantastic stuff. Thanks, Jim!

My first from this brewery where I spent alot of my childhood: New Jersey Beer Co. Actually I didn't spend my childhood in the brewery, although some might think so:grin:
    Tasting Colors DDH DIPA
    Pours a beautiful hazy orange/gold
with a beige head hangs briefly, lots of world map lacing.
Initially when I popped the top I got a rush of lemon/lime soda.
Then the overripe peach, juicy pineapple, orange with various other tropical notes on the nose and taste!
The taste is supported by a perfect lightly toasted malt. It's gently carbonated which prevents it from getting too heavy in feel and that seems to last throughout.
Medium/full body. Nice drying bitterness on the finish cleaning it up.
Really nice IPA. Fruity and hoppy as hell but managing to stay away from cloying.
I saw a few others of theirs so I will be exploring.
Going back to Jersey and Rudis Pizza, Closter![IMG]

No no no, was not implying that you are a lush LOL (well maybe)! But i get that hoppier beers tend to "numb the tounge" after a few. I know you are a lager lover and given the love i have seen for von Trapp brews i am surprised nothing has met your fancy. But then again you are totally spoiled by Schilling, which i totally get your love for them! So glad to have them in WNC. Cheers my friend!

Been a while since I posted an imposter @DavetotheB grill shot!

Seems he's unavailable to cook tonight (happy vacation, sir!!).

Looks like @Danmullens1 beat me to the grill tho.

And, I'll always be an imposter as long as I don't have Hamm's!!

We had a good haul at prince books in Norfolk across from the battleship uss Wisconsin. I needed 11/22/63. Worth the retail prices. We usually do used books lol

Wassrehund pick of the litter. Might be the best American lager I've had. Aromas and flavors of big cracker, biscuit dough, herbal, floral, wood, grass, peppercorn, pine, light corn. Medium pine/herbal bitterness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation and light-med body. Crisp clean refreshing finish. Balanced grainy malt and sticky resinous hops. Lingering resin dryness and minimal astringency. Very flavorful for the 4.6%. Very minimal adjunct notes overall. Really more of a German pilsner. 4.5

Happy Sunday BAs! I haven't had a tripel in a long time, and I was really craving one this afternoon. As luck would have it, I had exactly one Westmalle Tripel left in the back of my beer fridge - and boy does it really hit the spot on a hot day. Cheers!

I'm finally getting around to try the Blueberry KBS and while I drank enough to review it on NBW, I dumped the rest. KBS used to be an iconic BA Stout brewed once a year and it was difficult to track down. Now, it's shelf turd and I don't like the fruited versions at all. I'm not against blueberry in stouts. I recently had the blueberry variant of Ludlam Island Brewing's Thunder Jacket Milk Stout (on cask) which was outstanding! Whoever owns Founders now is systematically wrecking one of its best offerings. The Mackinac Fudge was great but I won't waste my money on the fruited versions again.

Yes, it is. Unique taste that hasn't been replicated, IMO.

Anomalous Materials DIPA collaboration with Hop Butcher and Foreign Local breweries. Thanks my brother @brewskis for this exceptionally drinkable hazebro. I didn't realize there was a brewery in downtown Hammond until now. Perhaps on my radar for a visit next year?
