Like, how can one not be struck by nature's beauty in our short-lived spectacle of autumn? Sunlight at low angles beaming through windows that cast unique and seldom seen shafts of light...Amazing. Remedy Oktofest Marzen. A good one. Prost!!

You have west coast IPA's, east coast IPA's, here's an Island-style IPA. Who knew?

In Sidney OH for work and visiting a Buffalo Wild Wings for some chow - and a beer. This is Wild Herd, a kolsch that Goose Island brews for BWW. Pretty decent- light floral hops and a bit of grass and some bread. Very easy drinker.

Well, if it isn't Mike Honcho himself.

    Also - happy anniversary to @meanmutt - that's 2 x 7 year itches!
Now with a real beer in hand, and happy to share this on a Monday after a full day off the sauce.

One of the stand-outs from Friday evening: ORB's Good in the Woods. 7.1% of WCIPA
I have to say my relationship with ORB is now renewed; had a weird off-day on palate and nose back in late June (right after run camp) that completely threw me off. Probably all the sugar I was eating during those long days running.

Good weight, smoother than hell and rings in with an aroma and taste between Blind Pig and Pliny. Columbus, Citra, Cascade in the hop bill. Old school meets (safe) new school combo. No complaints.

I'll take it. Fun to have a week or two with down mileage, get some good beers, get a little more winter fat on the body.

Hope your day is a real peach.

    Cheers!

Hanging out at Washington Park for Monday Night Jazz in the Park. Pamela Mallory is performing tonight's show. Drinking a fine IPA brewed a half mile up the road from here.

Sam Adams Boston Lager (5.0%): A Vienna lager from Boston with flavors of whipped ripe caramel, cinnamon, brown bread and toffee notes.

First try at the Boston Lager Remaster. Apparently this one is brighter and cleaner. It drinks with similar flavors to the original, but this one definitely as a cleanliness and dryness to it moreso than I remember from the original. Would have been great to compare this one in a battle to the original, but sadly the original is no more. This is still very good. It's dryer, cleaner, and less malty, but I don't think malty beers are missing from the Sam Adams repertoire.

    Lager Rankings from today:
    1) Third Space Oktoberfest:
Rich, toasty, malty. Incredible flavors and still the top Marzen from 2023 for me.
    2) Sam Adams Oktoberfest: This is a really good beer. I could see this being a “gateway” beer for many non craft beer drinkers.
    3) Sam Adams Boston Lager: They did a good job with the remaster. Kept a lot of the flavors while keeping it a bit lighter, dryer, and drinkable. For better or for worse, I think this is also a great “gateway” beer for craft beer drinking.

Good afternoon, advocates. This collab w/ the OGs at Alpine is definitely giving off Pure Hoppiness vibes. I wish all of Fieldwork's WCIPAs tasted this good. Relative Hoppiness is damn good. Cheers!

Always fun at the pub on Mondays…my friends crack me up…home now settling in for the evening with Other Half’s “More Riwaka Than All Riwaka” TIPA:

Pungent pineapple, passionfruit, mango and grapefruit. Soft creamy feel. Not boozy at 10.5%, but definitely not a pounder. Other Half consistently brews outstanding hazies. And I really like the flavors Riwaka brings to the party. Cheers y’all!
