If they made West Coast IPA I might not buy any other brand.

 

I’m so sorry for your loss, I can honestly say I know how you must feel having just gone through something similar. I have to say I was a mess for a while, everything reminded me of my buddy. Now I remember the fun I had with him and it makes me smile. Here’s wishing you memories of your pal make you smile.

Today is the quarterly Houston Vinyl Record Convention...you know what that means. I'm spending too much money there

After the convention, went over to a spot I don't normally get a chance to go to. Cause this is all on the south side of town. Another reason to go to the convention, is so I can have lunch at Watershed.

First up a classic Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, while sorting through some of my haul, which is mostly ECM jazz records that are out of printl



Then a Real Ale Swifty, Which is an excellent Pale Ale, that is really underrated. Mostly cause all the six packs around town are really old. Watershed always has a fresh keg, and its always on happy hour...

Lunch is their ridiculously awesome pork shank.



Hmm, I'm sure I'll be spinning some of my new tunes today ha.

 

Aqua Regia at Off Color

 

1) Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn (6.0%): A German Festbier with flavors of pale malt, dry bread, grains, yeast. Crisp and carbonated.
versus
2) Ayinger Jahrhundert Bier (5.5%): A Europen Export from Germany with flavors of pale Munich malt, earthy, grassy, and light honeysuckle. (Mismatched matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
2) Ayinger Jahrhundert Bier: German Lager Battle. First up is Paulaner's Festbier. Pale German flavors, slightly toasty and bitter for a clean, crisp finish. Goes up against ayinger Jahrhundert, which is a favorite. Very similar, slightly more earthy, grassy, and smooth Munich flavors. Not quite as crisp and slightly sweeter. Slightly more flavor overall. It's a celebratory beer for another one around the sun for me. Maybe I should have done their Celebrator, but I prefer this one. It's a lovely beer if you can find it.

Nice fall day here, 62F. Got a lot of yard work done, now it's fire pit time. Opened another Fuzzy Baby Ducks. Poured from the vanishing breed of 12oz containers.

 

Wow, so sorry for your loss. My life has been infinitely rich because of the dogs who have graced it. I hope you and your family can take solace in the memories and love of 16 years.

 

My condolences Tom. Been through that multiple times, including the dog that basically grew up with our kids. Despite having even closer relationships with later dogs I was really floored for the kids with that 1st one.
