So how did that treat hold up?
Coincidentally, picked up a case of 2023 for the basement this afternoon
Waiting for 2024 in a few weeks
    Cheers

Had a draft Celebration with lunch in downtown Hendersonville earlier, draft is even better for me but glad i have 9 cans in my fridge
Picked this TIPA up from The Veil based on a friend's recommendation last month. Very solid for sure, rated it a 4.27.
    Cheers!

    1) Toppling Goliath King Sue (7.8% canned 10/12/23): A NEIPA from Iowa since 2014 that is brewed with Citra hops and has flavors of orange citrus, pineapple, and tropical mango.
    versus
    2) Toppling Goliath Cage’s Castles (7.8% canned 10/16/23): A NEIPA from Iowa with Strata, Nelson, Citra and Mosaic for flavors of orange flower, grapefruit, pineapple, some hints of grape and melon. Smooth. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) Toppling Goliath King Sue:
Toppling Goliath NEIPA Battle. This battle was due at some point. The King is all Citra, up against the new Cage's Castles which has the addition of Strata, Nelson, and Mosaic, a great combination. They pour identical and identical aromas. Out of the can the flavors were identical as well. Had to let them warm a bit to tell any sort of difference. Interesting, because I don't remember Cage's tasting to similar to King Sue. It's similar, but slightly more juicy pineapple sweetness. The King is slightly more refined, but to my surprise these are extremely similar. I'll let them warm more and take more notes. I'd like to put Cage's Castles up against Fire, Skulls, & Money, which has a similar hop combination, and is in my opinion their best IPA.

It’s good—malty (obviously) but still has pretty solid hop presence, good carbonation, nicely balanced. My last 2013 bottle. Sipping it on the porch listening to my Jack White/ Raconteurs/ White Stripes playlist. A rare sunny November day here.

Sounds lovely all the way around!
A guy in my neighborhood tasting group purchased a cellar pack from Sierra Nevada and we have a tasting lined up for Saturday. We are even going to score the vintages which are 2014, 2016, 2017, 2022. I am planning on posting results in the Barleywine Thread Sunday.
    Cheers!

It's cool seeing these older beers come to the surface. I hope it was great, but remember, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

Why drink something you might not like when you can drink something that you know you'll love. Life is too short for sh*tty beer. Let's Celebrate! Cheers.

    1) Weihenstephaner Festbier (5.8%):
A German Festbier with flavors of pale malt, smooth honey, cereal, earthy pale Munich malts. Smooth.

Last Weihenstephaner Festbier of the season. This one is one of the gold-standard festbiers, similar to Paulaner but slightly sweeter I've found. I tried it side-to-side today against the Weihenstephaner Original Premium from earlier. Slightly heavier and more honey as expected, but overall pretty similar. Which one is better? I do think their Original Premium is slightly more refined. Highly recommend both of these. So if you are needing a Festbier if the off-season try their Original Premium.
Advocates, I also think we have a great NFL football matchup tonight in Baltimore and Cincinnati.

No, it was Tuesday, but Thursday don’t have a specific “feel”, either… cheers!

Sierra Nevada's Nectaronomicon IPA. 7.5% Overall score 4.21

    from a 16oz canned on 2023-10-11

A - Clear gold with a 2-finger white head and very good lace. Beautiful.

S - Orange and hop herbal. Light bread crust. Not real strong.

T - Orange, lime, papaya, pineapple, pine, bread crust. Moderately bitter with a little sweetness on the finish. Exceptional balance.

M - Medium body and carbonation. Smooth.

O - A very pleasant, easy to drink IPA. On the fruity side instead of like the caramel, pine and more bitter Torpedo. Enjoyed it and will have it again.
