Anybody in Austin have more information? Found this on the thing known as Facebook.

"This morning Oskar Blues Brewery suddenly closed its Austin taproom, laying off employees and providing no further information.

All of their social media accounts related to the Austin location we’re removed, along with the webpage."

Wow, that kind of sucks. I never got a chance to visit the Austin location, but it was always on my to try list, guess that is what happens when I only visit once ever several years, ugh.

Likewise, never made it up there but I'd really wanted to. Oh well. I do see fewer of their brands on shelves these days. But that's true of all national brands (and sadly, in general as seltzer creeps in).

I wonder what this means for brands under the Canarchy umbrella.

Hmm very abrupt but not surprising.

Their beer is fine but there are so many better locals.

Sad news. Craft beer is really, really becoming hyper-local. I will say back when there were almost no good local options (like 10+ years ago) I used to LOVE Oscar Blues beers and had them in my fridge all the time. Now, I get nothing but local breweries. When I visit Austin, it doesn't even cross my mind to go to Oscar Blues. I'm going for the local spots only.

Maybe I'll grab a six-pack of Ten Fidy if I can find it if the weather ever really does get cool down here.... And if it doesn't, maybe I'll pick up a six-pack of Dales Pale Ale... It's definitely been a while.

I always seem to gravitate toward the local breweries, wherever I go. Oskar Blues never even hit my radar screen. That said, any time a good beer place closes it feels a little personal to me.

I visited both locations in Austin and Colorado. This is sad.

I remember drinking Gordon. And then G'Knight. God bless brothers.

Amen. I remember thinking I was "cool" because I still called the beer Gordon even when they changed the name of it to G'Knight.....
