I love many AleSmith beers, and it's my #1 spot whenever I get down to San Diego. They have a great space, and have many excellent pours across many styles and a speakeasy bar open for their select BA offerings. Also love .394 Pale Ale and the Tony Gwynn exhibit they have at their brewery.

6th Lord. An IPA brewed by Basic City. My go-to reasonably priced Virginia IPA.

Chili and beano for chow tonight.

 

Made some wings, and fried rice. Great Heights Donny, Who Love Bowling IPA in the glass. Watching my fighting Illini taking on Oho State.

 

Duh. Shoulda checked BA first. Thanks for the bad news. I read this as "only be around for a few more weeks then gone forever".

 

Tis a bit expensive but I decided to splurge.

Veil is probably my favorite brewery.

I live about ten miles from the brewery . For the first few years after they opened I stood in the beer lines to buy their cans/bottles. It got better the last couple of years but to get their stuff you still had to go to the brewery which I did two to three times a month for a number of years.

Spoke today with the owner of my favorite local shop. He was selling some Veil beer! He said Veil now will sell to Virginia stores even though they have been selling to 27 other states for some time now.

Sorry, there really isn’t really a point to my post.

 

Varietal Brewing’s Chukar Cherry Stout. I’m a sucker for cherry beers in all their forms, and this one is pretty darn good.

Having another one of these.

 

It’s interesting. It has an almost artificial hop taste because it’s so strong from the oil. It’s not an IPA that I would seek out again, as I prefer strong pine flavoring, but it’s certainly not bad. It has a bit of a bitter finish which I would have liked to have been stronger. I found the nose to be light and consist solely of hops.

Here’s one I had at the start of the year. I didn’t pay attention to the pour for some reason and wasted good beer!
