There's a lot of discussion about packaging, format and price, but have they considered simply reducing the volume of sour production? That is, if they haven't already started doing that. It seems like that would reap all kinds of benefits for both them and their customers.

I've usually been able to at least find someone to split with - there have definitely been times that hasn't happened, but far more often, I've made a new a friend over a bottle than been unable to.

Do you think that would make the 12oz stouts not be $70 anymore?

    Haha, no.

But appease people who are concerned or turned off about packages? Yeah.

It also might reduce their overhead in regards to all sources of resources, least of which being time and space.

If they make la coterie beers only available in packages, I might issue a credit card charge back. But for real, that would be the reason I no longer buy side project beer.

It’s unbelievable how different my mindset is when it comes to beer. I first joined the LC waiting list years ago. Going from refreshing the Side Project website at random moments throughout the day after vague IG posts of an upcoming in hopes that I would be the score a silent release to having command station set up and refreshing multiple devices during the initial wave of online releases during Covid to even pathetically finding local mules online to wait and buy me beer during their on site only releases. Finally got into LC and my excitement is less than when I wake up and look at my phone and see that I was able to sleep in past 8 am.

That said, I joined. I’ve accepted the fact that I will be chasing big boy beers and spending stupid amounts of money on said beers for the rest of my life. Will be funny seeing the craft beer scene in a few decades when most of the people in it now are geriatrics.

I am surprised that so much of the discussion has focused on packages and whether packages exist instead of addressing the fact that packages keep getting bigger.

BBT with 3 or 4 other bottles is absolutely ridiculous.

Double Vanilla with 3, and only a 375? Absolutely not.

Even if they kept all the beers in packages the same but reduced the package size to just 1 sour that no one wants, it would be a bit of a game changer for how much people buy.

And yes, it is clear at this point, no one wants the sours. Yes, some people buy them, but the vast majority of people purchasing the stouts and BWs don’t want the sours. And, even if you do, as has been pointed out time and again, you run the risk of having to buy a sour in a package if you EVER buy it solo. So, don’t ever buy it solo.

Long term, dark beer prices need to hit a wall for awhile.

Still makes absolutely 0 sense that silent barrels are $75. A huge price premium for SP doing a lot less work. Just silly.

Is the price of Derivation Grand Cru known? Did I miss that somewhere? I haven’t renewed yet, waiting for payday tomorrow.

It was one of my least favorite beers at stout week. But I’m curious to cellar it for a bit and give it another go

I'm not remotely excited for that beer.

The beer I am excited for right now? Alma Mader made another plain BA imperial stout for members. It's the first beer in the past six or months that I bought my full allotment of. The cost of my membership plus those extra bottles (with no sours) is still less than the entry fee for LC.

    EDIT: I can't read, lol

Interesting how nobody’s chimed in to say pricing needs to stop being talked about

    Usually that happens pretty early

How does Anabasis b6 compare to b5? I found b5 to be an outlier in that brand compared to earlier releases, not in a good way.

I guess I’m an outlier but I really loved D Grand Cru and For LC.

    Something something…poors into beer again…

    Did I do that right?

I think that means that we’ve finally hit an inflection point either with pricing or the financial environment as a whole.

im not sure I’m understanding? My Alma Mader membership cost me 350 which alone is more than LC’s membership costs?
