They are (well, in 2009, were) the brands owned, partially-owned or imported/distributed in the US by ABI, MolsonCoors and SABMiller.

See the "Key" at the end of the list which distinguishes those that are partially-owned or simply imported by those companies.

I was also shocked by how much I enjoy that brew.

Yup. The equally illogical flip side of folks who will only drink name brand beer...

Drink what tastes good - period.

Well, until I notice a trend of awfulness coming from GI, I'm still ok with it. I think a lot of people write it off just to be dicks, which is their loss IMO. It seems like it would be foolish for InBev to purchase something of great quality and a great fanbase, just to let it get worse. But hey, what the fuck do I know, you know?

And I've heard nothing but good things about terrapin, but Ive never had it.

Hoegaarden was a gateway beer for me, and I still think its good. granted, maybe not as good as it USED to be...

Goose Island Brewing Co. (but not the brewpubs) is wholly owned by Anheuser-Busch, which is in turn the wholly-owned US subsidiary of ABInBev.

This is all that really needs to be said on the matter.

    "Period?"

One can "drink what they like" and still want to know the origin, the brewer and the owner of the beer.

Not much different, in my mind, than reading the credits on a favorite CD or watching them roll by at the end of film.

Got to agree with that 100%. Taste is what will always win, let's see if I get beat up for this statement again.

Agree, but I think the direction of this thread (calling them fake and disgusting) was to identify them in order to avoid them. Would you turn away from a great beer because it was made by a larger manufacturer? I don't understand the logic. Like a '60s "stick it to the man" thing I guess.

I, and many others, care. There's some things that are more important to me than the taste of the beer in the bottle (blasphemy I know).

How'd you come up with this list and do you know each one's owner? For example, which macro owns Horny Goat?

I think part of it for people is that they disguise their ownership of these "craft beers". No mention of MillerCoors on the label of Blue Moon, for example. Otherwise I think most people are willing to let bygones be bygones- if its bad beer, screw it. If its bad beer ninja-made by BMC, screw it too with a cherry on top. If its good beer, regardless of who makes it, we'll drink it. Something like that.

Yah... But they aren't owned by a big conglomerate are they? I know they do a lot of contract brewing themselves.

"Craft" beer and "Micro Breweries" are soooo 2012. My friends and I now only drink "Pico Brews" ie Beers whose annual production measures <2 quarts and serving type is by the teaspoon. If we find out they produced anything north of a gallon we burn them down.

Though this not be the case for the OP, for some people, it's not merely about quality. Some people choose to withdraw from purchasing products from companies whose practices may be less than stellar. For instance, certain clothing companies and child labor. It may not be good enough for someone that they make a really slick pair of shoes that he or she ignores something they don't believe in. You may not agree and think, "hey, as long as I like the product, who cares who is behind it," but I find it hard to fault someone who does care.

Well, that may be the direction the OP and some posters are taking. I'm pro-knowledge, so I answer questions - the answers of which, in this case, are often hidden by the breweries involved with the use of 'dba' names and contract brewing. I don't know --- if someone on the street asks me for directions to the County Courthouse, I don't ask them first why they're going there.
