I don’t like it. To me, that’s not the same beer then, so don’t call it a collaboration. What’s next…one brewery uses the same coffee as someone else, so THAT’S a collaboration? LOL!

Clearly, I’m an idiot. That’s why I only trade $4$…I have no sense.

Well, got my 8, drinking some at OH. Lots of barrel tannins. Still very cold, so the hazelnut is a little muted. Vanilla is there in the back.

What about the word collaboration indicates that the beer is brewed, aged, and bottled all in the same location by the same people? Collaborative efforts are all about agreeing to concepts after bouncing ideas off each other. That's it. Hell, most of the time, collabs are only released at one brewery, so in this case you're lucky an SP collab was also released and available at OH. The few collabs that release at both breweries almost always take the concept and do it "their way" so you can identify traits from the host brewery relative to the guest, and then if you're lucky you can get the corresponding beer from the other brewery for companion's sake. There are almost always laws that prevent host breweries from selling to go, retail beer that wasn't brewed by them. It has literally always been this way.

To reiterate: Clearly, I’m an idiot.

FYI: No limit on the inferior OH version. :stuck_out_tongue:

To argue the point a minute: that’s one interpretation of a collabeeration. Nothing says the breweries can’t agree on one final conceptual brew, brewed at their locations. I opined that once one brewer starts futzing around with the formula, it’s not the same beer; It’s two similar but different beers. I’m more informed about drinking beers than beer laws, so I can’t speak from an informed position about that. Cheers!

It's not really futzing around with a formula. You act like these breweries have the same brewing equipment, capacity, suppliers, and skill sets, when they don't. Again, 99% of the time, legally, they can't sell another brewery's beer to go.

So, if--on what I've observed to be rare occasions--both breweries actually want to release "the same" beer at both locations, they each have to brew it separately. While a few breweries actually collaborate on really specific processes when it comes to some compare and contrast lager or SMASH brews, most of these hype breweries usually collaborate by aiming to hit a certain ABV while adding a couple of predetermined pastry ingredients, or using a specific hop cocktail, obviously depending on the style.

You act like brewing beer is like following the microwave directions on the back of a ramen packet. The expectations you have are just so beyond unrealistic it's really impossible to list all the reasons why.

    It's not about being right.

I'll never understand people that don't want to actually know what they're talking about. Then again, I guess a lot of you all would have saved yourself a lot of anguish if you weren't so prone to making sweeping generalizations and believing them then complaining about how they aren't actually true. But of course that would be a lot less interesting.

    Oh, but, cHeErS fRaNd!
