Bummer. Good thing it's not summer weather yet. Sorry to hear that.

 

Rainy gloomy day running errands with my brother through out the Valley…it’s his day off, so he’s out with his girlfriend Now…my first beer of the day, a 32oz mini growler full of “Holy Citra Double IPA” that I bought at the best beer retailer in Charleston today:



Brewed by nano brewery Stumptown Ales, Davis WV. I had this beer at a bar during Christmas and liked it. Drinking fine! Mild bitter lemon peel, tangerine, pine. Firm malt base leans a little sweet, but otherwise a tasty WCIPA style. For information/ comparison purposes, the liquid was $8, and the refillable glass growler was $4. So cheap compared to Florida prices. I’ll revisit again with my new grower for draft beer - Cheers brothers and sisters of the Now!

After this I'm down to the final tin of it. Stellar brew IMHO. Summit Saga IMP IPA is also amazing. I love high ABV beers and enjoy them in moderation. SN Hop Bullet Magnum IMP IPA. The "film industry" describes this sky color as "The Wildest Blue." Get funky y'all! Cheers!

A critical piece of machinery that runs for months and months without issue had three completely different failures today. I really need a beer.

Picked up a nice little haul at my local today, including a $5.99 4pk of clearance 2021 Ten Fidy and a new to me variety pack of Head Hunter .

Starting off my Friday evening with the Double Dry Hopped version. After a few sips I decided I should pour a regular Head Hunter and do a little side by side for science. I've consumed my fair share of HH over the years, although it has been a while. Unsure what to make of it but both versions feel much less aggressive than the HH that I remember. I'd love to hear from Head Hunter connoisseurs whether or not it's gotten more approachable over the years. Most likely the beer is the same and it's me that's changed.

Both the standard and the DDH version are delicious. The more I sip the regular HH the more it tastes like the beer I'm used to. I love that nice lingering bitterness. It's the DDH version that seems a little muted by comparison. It also has a little thinner mouthfeel than the OG. DDH Head Hunter looks great on paper, but I guess sometimes you just don't need to mess with a good thing. Looking forward to tasting the Simcoe and Tropical versions. Might be a long night haha.
