Just to confirm for those of you out there - the brewery is closed the day after Zwanze? So if I'm communicating with proxy, tell him to avoid the brewery this weekend?

We are in a very different time in the beer world for sure. Seems like a generation of us who caused the boom are starting to age out and I’m not sure the generation behind us is into it (or maybe can’t afford to be).

I mean, when SP was first getting hyped and people first started to hear about it and trade, the beer was a lot cheaper at retail, and packages weren't a thing. Comparatively, secondary prices were skyhigh and supply was incredibly low. None of that is true today.

Also, other available substitutes are much closer (in quality) and easier to get than during the boom.

    The calculus is very different.

For me it was always the packages, I’m not fan of saisons or wild ales and could never justify spending the extra money when I all I wanted was the stout. Think it’s hurting them for sure.

I’d have bought multiples of this beer. Packages kill it for me. I used to like sours too but SP makes so many they really just all taste the same

For me, when you offer 2 or 3 of the packaged beers as single-purchase options, it makes the marquee beer seem more expensive.

Bundling should make things cheaper. Not itemize how much you're spending.

I'll continue to say good for SP for getting the bag on these. And boo hoo to anyone who's just in to flip for Wellerz. But I would be curious to know if SP thinks this is sustainable.

Pricing in general went up too hard and too fast IMO. Big stouts were what, $50 for a 750ml when SP opened? Now their biggest beers are like $150 for a 750ml equivalent. And that’s not to mention the impact of packages. Plus, yeah, trade values have plummeted on top of this, so the flippers are largely out of the game now too.

I'm glad the secondary market is slowing down, but yes, it is kind of funny to see just how much the flippers drove the retail business.

D1-3 were $35. Not that there was a ton of those. BA CSV b1 was also only $35, first two BBTs were $40
