    This is not the going price, right? I was thinking I'd seen this elsewhere (even in town) for $10-11 a 4-pk. This is not at all a shady establishment (I just bought a BCBS there a few weeks ago at $20 and change). Do you think this is some mixup in the system that I should ask about, or is this the going rate for this year's vintage?

    No I think it's around $14 a four pack. It's not that great either.

    you know, when you're talking about a small, family-owned brewery like Goose, they have to ask slightly higher prices for their products to cover overhead. It's not like they're producing billions and billions of gallons of beer a year...

    ...oh wait.

    What's the worst that could happen if you ask?

    Well, as I don't intend to buy any anyway, I didn't wanna really look like a dick or 'that guy', though I guess if the price were corrected, they might blow through their stock a lot quicker...

    I was forced to buy a 4-pack of GI Christmas ($10.50), in order to be allowed to buy BCBS. The guy said "that's what they made us do." He was talking about the distributor I'm assuming.

    Oh, I don't mind being that guy,a dick; it's just how I am :wink::slight_smile: .
    I am used to shopping at Shangy's where you almost always need to ask for the price of a case of beer for the stacks along the wall which are like NEVER marked.

    Typically about $10-$11 a four-pack here in the TC.

    Your opinion is completely wrong it is a good beer and at a great price.

    Also to the OP, they store must of thought it was Bourbon County Christmas Ale/Stout.

    I think I would have walked out the door. Haven't seen this personally yet, but thinkin it is a common form of extortion. Store won't have the Christmas beer hanging around for Halloween, I suppose.

    And did you actually pay $20 for 1 BCBS? Hopefully not a 12oz'er - they are six fifty here.

    My guess is that it's the store. In most cases, the store can do whatever they want with a product once they purchase it from the distributor. I know that the distributors can make their accounts buy a certain amount of a product before they send them the limited-release stuff, but they have no control over what a store does with it beyond that. I could be wrong. It probably varies from state to state.

    If you can find 2011 Christmas ale on the shelves still (you probably can) get it. It's drinking great right now.

    I don't get the hate for this years batch. If you specifically don't like the style, that's one thing, but to say that beer isn't good is a pretty weird statement.

    I think he's saying that the distributor made him buy Xmas to get BCS so he's doing the same to his customers so he doesn't get stuck with it since the market for xmas basically dies on 12/26.

    It's shitty to do to your good customers, but it's certainly not unheard of. Especially at smaller shops.
