What beer are you drinking now? #4428

Been digging this classic lately:



North Coast's Old Rasputin.

 

1) Andechs Weissbier Hell (5.5%): A German Hefeweizen with flavors of smooth and rich orange, bread spices of banana and cloves. Mildly sweet.
versus
2) Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier (5.4%): A German Hefeweizen with flavors of smooth orange, bread spices of banana and cloves. Yeasty. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

German Hefeweizen battle. I usually do this battle each year. First is Andehcs. Smooth and rich orange flavors. Smooth, rich, and mildly sweet.
Next is Weihenstephaner. The gold standard in my book. Similar. Slightly more yeasty and dry.
Today I'm surprised but thinking Andechs is more flavorful and smooth here.
Winner: Andechs

 

That is surprising. Would prefer a Hefe normally over any Helles.
But never had Andechs. Very curious now.

Way different beer this year player. Nice share for the contrast. Nice job upping me on my back yard in friggan ca- Noble savage and root- impressed as always.

Seems to get mixed reviews, what did you think??

 

Felt asleep on the couch yesterday while holding this. Woke up in the middle of the night and there was no way I was wasting this. Kept it in the fridge and it tastes mighty fine this afternoon. I believe that @TheIPAHunter has had a similar experience in the past?

1) Phase Three Rule Of Thirds (7.7% canned 7/10/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Mosaic & Nelson for flavors of white grape, snappy passionfruit, zesty citrus and tropical berries.
versus
2) Toppling Goliath Fire, Skulls, & Money (7.8% canned 11/8/24): A NEIPA from Iowa with Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy, and Nelson for flavors of grapefruit and orange citrus flower, vinous white grape, gooseberry with some pine and berry to balance. Juicy, complex, and clean. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Phase Three vs. Toppling Goliath Battle.
First is Phase Three Rule Of Thirds. Admittedly past its time. But the hop combo is perfect, Citra, Mosaic, and Nelson. This is still drinking with beautiful white grape and berry flavors. Amazing.
Next is Toppling Goliath Fire, Skulls, & Money. My all-time favorite IPA. Similar hop combo but far more fresh. Bright grapefruit, citrus flower, white grape with tropical berries underneath. Amazing as well.
Win to Fire, Skulls, & Money probably because of freshness here. But when these were both fresh this could have been quite an epic battle.

 

No drain pour for me…

But seriously, it is a good beer, as advertised, nothing more nothing less, good value.
