What beer are you drinking now? #4441

1) Hop Butcher Galaxy Bowl (8.0% canned 10/28/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Galaxy for flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, passionfruit, and tangerine.
versus
2) BlackStack Next Week (8.2% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Mosaic Cryo, Strata, and Nelson for flavors of grapefruit, passionfruit, dank white grape and lychee. Clean and dry. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Hop Butcher vs. BlackStack Battle. First is Hop Butcher. All Galaxy here. Lots of that citrus, passionfruit, grapefruit that I'm used to. Not my favorite hop but this does Galaxy nicely.
Next is BlackStack Next Week. Mosaic, Strata, Nelson. Pineapple, melon, mango with some bright white grape flavors. Nothing overpowering and pretty simple.
Both are very good, slight edge to BlackStack here.
Winner: BlackStack Next Week

Jai Alai out front on a nice 79 degree afternoon.

 

Russian River Pliny the Elder DIPA (Amarillo, Centennial, CTZ, Cascade, Warrior, Simcoe). This is as dialed in as they come for West Coast DIPA imho. Bright, clean, crisp, soft, oily, bitter, layered hop character, and hop forward balance. Hops bring big ripe grapefruit flesh and peel, orange peel, big bright floral, some lemon zest, grass, some herbaceous dank, resinous pine. Ridiculously good.

 

Outside temp has dropped to 50°…inside now working on my sauce with an assist from a Juicy Little Thing IPA:

Fat Orange Cat Winter Warmer (7.0%): A Winter Warmer from Connecticut with flavors of bread, caramel, ginger, cinnamon, cocoa, and licorice. Yeasty.

A nice Winter Warmer here. Complex flavors of spices, cocoa, and licorice. The flavor and body sort of fall off the end. Still pretty good.

 

Gnosis Sixtel Pete DIPA (Nectaron, Nelson, Rakau, Pacifica, NZH 214, Chinook). Loads going on here with all of the Southern Hemisphere hops. Nectarine, yellow peach, big white pear, white grape, papaya, dragonfruit, big passionfruit, some plum, ruby red grapefruit flesh and peel, rose water, funk, earthiness, resin.
