No one has mentioned Barrel-Aged Gonzo yet. It's a steal and I love it!

If you can get access to it, try Peoples Porter (and the bourbon barrel version as well) from Foothills!

Anchor, Sierra Nevada, Founders, Edmund Fitzgerald, and Firestone Walker Walkers Reserve Porter are all good options. Alpha Klause was a decent porter but I found the hop profile to be off putting.

Anchor porter. Or Sam smith taddy porter are my tops. On the cheaper side, sweetwater exodus is great.

If Baltic porters count. The Duck Rabbit kills that style.

A very basic, but very good porter is: Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter

Hardly basic. 100 across the board on this site.

Saw the thread title and was going to emphatically suggest Founders Porter and GL Edmund Fitz - thankfully you've seen the light!

I'll second (or third/forth?) Anchor Porter.

Basic as in not complex. Not crazy flavors, not high ABV like a baltic, just a very well done high quality porter.
