The last one I had was, but that's been at least a year ago. I feel like the US brewed Stella mimics the European one and might actually be better. The US Beck's is like someone watered down the imported version but still exposed it to sunlight.

Heineken is a great beer. Can’t say I’ve had enough Becks to really remember it.

...I agree that Heineken 0.0 is a top-notch NA beer (IMHO)...I haven't seen a Heineken dark lager in decades...used to like quite a bit back in the day...

I would choose which ever one was cold and on sale. I have drank many of both.

I'll give a slight edge to Heineken.

    Ummm... both beers suck?

All kidding aside, if you're really interested read over some of the reviews. Both the pro and con versions. To some extent the explanation provided by @PapaGoose03 is on point, but that isn't the only reason the beers are unpopular with a lot of members on this site.

I don’t think I’ve ever had Beck’s. But if I have, it’s been a while. Anyway, this is Heineken to me =[IMG]

Heineken on draft is decent....out of the can is ok too....I'd prefer it over Beck's myself.

If its on tap or in a can, Heineken all day. Out of a bottle, its a crap shoot.

Jack, Hamm’s score on BA is 68. It should be at least a 70. I prefer Hamm’s over Beck’s or Heineken.

    Thanks for that reply!

One more AAL that is 'better' than these two beers marketed as being imports.

    Cheers!

Do they still sell Urquell in the green bottle in Europe?

They stopped here in the US a while ago.

All three beers are in different styles (Euro pale Lager, German Pilsner, American adjunct lager). So the ratings aren't directly comparable. I looked at the AAL beers. The highest rated beer with more than 100 raters is Fort George Pre-Pro.(3.64); with 919 ratings, Founders Solid Gold is at 3.63. There is a scattering of others near 3.5 (including Schlitz 1960, Hauenstein, Narragansett). PBR is about 2.95.

But all Pale Lagers. That is good enough for me for comparative purposes.

Feel free to have your own disparate opinion here.

    Cheers!

Next time you could create a poll with your thread. For example: What do you prefer?
    • Becks
    • Heineken
    • Neither
    Cheers!

AALs and Euro Lagers are pretty compatible, with most beers classed in these categories having mediocre BA ratings. BA classification "German Pilsner" contains many, many well represented beers having high average ratings. Real German Pilsners are all malt and generally have more malt body and hop presence than the other two classifications.
