Well that’s super confusing. Each one separate but with another beer right? Probably paired with a sour?

they could have a buttload of it. They’ve done that move in the past with LC

Wait until you see that they're paired with the free LC bottles you got yesterday.

Personally, I couldn’t care that LC isn’t getting these. At that price/rating, I don’t need or want to spend the money.

4.10 for aspen? Why was that even released.

These being released to LC was not of interest to me at all, so no hard feelings on this one. It is hilarious that they're releasing four packages though - must have a lot of sour stock they want to move.

I was surprised by that. 4.1 is super low for a SP stout, and they get at least a .5 hype bump on all of theirs.

Probably gets a minus .5 because it’s not “waxed” lol

Mizunara wasn’t waxed either and by all accounts it’s being received well

aspen wasn’t great but it’s better than that rating. It probably suffers because it’s clearly one of the weaker beers on the menu all of stout week. I mean most of those releases were killers. I’m drinking double barrel maple in the wood, generational, mjk, and vw bbt…and then db finished Aspen.

it’s disappointing by sp standards. I didn’t find it disappointing as a ba stout on the whole. I’ve had far far worse

now, to take the angle @Beer_Economicus brings up…at $50 per 375ml bottle, you’re not gonna be happy with that purchase

Def going to skip the wood beers. Not a big fan of wood flavored drinks. Also, while I’ve got y’all here, I’m likely going to renew my LC membership, but my proxy is retiring and dropping out of LC after the current membership ends. Was wondering if anybody knew of any proxies that would be willing to help me out?

Those beers aren’t free. SP just doesn’t know what ‘complimentary’ means…

The greed is unreal? Good lord man get a grip. You’re acting like they’re Nestle stealing water rights in developing countries. It’s just beer. Don’t renew and get over it. It’s their business to run.

I think all questions on the finishing beers can be answered by referencing the descriptions to my entries for said beers. Horchata recipe (agree - super confusing) aged in bourbon barrels then transferred to new bourbon barrels with the specific wood staves added to that finishing bourbon barrel(s).

There is currently 19 different sours in the store. So they’ve got some stock for sure.

    I can't drink a stout unless it's waxed, LOL

Might be a hot take, but i thought the sours took a big step forward this year and the stouts took a little step back.

In the last year or so worth of releases SpontanFermier, Merci, Blended 2023, Sasionnier/DH Sasionnier, Punchdown Chambourcin, and Fermier (v23) all were very enjoyable bottles. Im actually looking forward to more of the brett condition bottles

I used to love sours, but now I enjoy a $15 grisette as much as a $50 tete, so I can’t justify buying all the different ones they release. I realize I could be the minority, but I no longer buy sours, regardless of how good they sound. Just not worth the investment to me.

Some of the new sours have actually intrigued me, but no matter how much they interest me in the moment - they all sit in the same boxes in my cellar. Only time they get touched is when I shuffle those boxes to see if there are any stouts / barleywines I missed in the box below it.

38 minutes later - Alma Mader posting that they have a SP sour on tap. Looks like I'll be ordering more SP sours in the future if that continues.

Calamansi is a great pour. Like drinking a lightly tart, key lime cheesecake. High on the funk levels compared to their other white labels, IIRC.

    lmao.

You’d just complain if they released them to LC but didn’t have enough for each member.

Do you post this angrily about every business that doesn’t cater to your exact wishes?

What’s confusing about it? OWK and MJK are finished beers but also base recipes.
