I think we all agree the base stout should be named by appearance, rather than taste.

    Tootsie roll
    Booty toots
    Motor oil
    Turkish coffee
    Gunk
    Ink
    Pudding

It’s a tough situation. I get the frustration but also have to view it from the business perspective as well.

I’ve been in LC for several years. Did we used to get more of an allocation than we do now? I would say so. Much of that was during Covid when almost everything was for sale online/pickup only. However when things have opened back up, many of us have had life change. Kids, work obligations, financial situations, whatever it might be, and we just can’t make it up to SP as much.

5-8 years ago, I was at side project monthly. Never missed an event, would go up for almost every big release and would buy the bottles sold and spend a few hundred bucks onsite every weekend that I was in town. Now, I’m fortunate if I can make it up quarterly. I usually can make maybe one event per year. Life has just changed.

Would I love to be able to still get every single bottle from my desk at the office? Sure. I also realize that if they sell all of those to me and I’m not going up to spend time/money like I used to then It’s hard for me to expect to get the same “return” from SP.

They are a business and in a niche product that’s in a really strange transition period and trying to navigate it as it’s ever evolving. The balancing act of trying to keep the “OG” supporters happy while also trying to provide incentive for the LC members AND new people to visit the locations and spend money there also, is a tough one that there isn’t a right answer for.

There is only so much beer.

Naming the base beer "Horchata" is probably not confusing to some, but naturally confusing others since the name connotes:
    (1) A beverage established for at least several hundred years
    (2) A beer SP has for sale in its webstore intended to mimic the flavors of (1)
    (3) A completely separate base beer unrelated to (1) and (2)

<sarcasm> I do not think the retainer I've arranged with my attorney will cover any related legal inquiries related to the naming. <\sarcasm>

What sour beers have disappeared from the webshop to go with the DBF Series beers today?

    It’s only a $20 beer. Probably fuzzy.

The way the email is worded, it seems like each DB beer is being sold in a package, so 4 packages each a DB finished beer and 1 additional beer 4. I assume they will all be unique to each package, but kind of curious.

Smooth, Calamansi & SdF PN have all come down in the last week. The latter two of those were $25 beers though.

My guess would be Verdant, Smooth, Fuzzy & Spontanfermier if they're doing different beers in each package / only doing $20 bottles

    $70 ea for the packages.

Mizunara + Smooth seems to be the obvious choice, although Maple with the 750 of PN Sdf is solid.

Right and we didn’t get MJK this time around and yet it’s lasted to pouring events in Wisconsin

I am very happy with that package honestly, and an easy trigger pull

The Amburana was a turnoff for a lot of people. I could live next door to Side Project and I wouldn't ever get it. It just didn't jive for me. MJK B1 was certainly a different story. This may not be the only reason since it still has a 4.82 rating (compared to 4.88's B1), but I'm sure it didn't help.

If maple were an adjunct I'd have pounced on it.
