With temperatures pushing towards 60 for a high it was time to finally hit the trails again this morning. Warmed back in with a non-strenuous 5.5 miler out in Pisgah NF. Was about 28 degrees, as evidenced by the photo, when we started at 9:30 but the mountain sunshine was warming.
Getting into the last of my Wookey Jack, this is as glorious as the day was! Listening to Classic Rock Party on Sirius.

Alright! So, of course you fine folks here don’t know anything about me, nor would I expect you too, but I’m not the biggest fan of OG stout. Some Irish dry’s are really nice, but more often than not I tend to go for big, often BA adjunct stouts. When I do buy a stout I usually gravitate away from coffee stouts because they often are too dark/roasty for me. This one was an exception since I love the pronounced flavours in most imperial beers.

I’ve had superflux’s regular drip, and while it’s good, it’s just very dry and dark. Not bad, but not my favourite. This one on the other hand… wow.

Massive notes of thick, rich coffee and fudge intertwine in an awesome way, and paired with the relatively soft and syrupy mouthfeel, this one is a standout. Mild vanilla, crisp, slightly fruity background notes and this lovely, lingering dark chocolate/cacao acidity.

I know I love a beer when I decide to get in depth with it and this one is real nice. On the nose it’s more of the same- semi sweet chocolate chips, dark, smooth coffee (smells like raw beans) and cakey fudge-y goodness.

Mouthfeel is full, blooming in the way everything unfurls in your mouth.

I made a great choice grabbing this one, but I knew I would like it. Decadent and delicious double stout. Lovely indeed!
