Sierra Nevada Hop Tropical IPA (6.5% canned 12/12/24): A West-Coast IPA from California with Motueka and Riwaka for flavors of passionfruit, tangerine citrus, dank mango, and pine.

First try at this. Cool idea from Sierra Nevada with the Southern Hemisphere hops. Some passionfruit and dank mango notes. Classic Sierra Nevada resinous tangerine notes.
It has some interesting flavors, but not quite West-Coast or as bitter as I expected. I don't really know what to compare it to. It's not a hazy little thing. It's light than Torpedo. It's much different than their Pale Ale. This is sort of in it's own camp, but I wouldn't buy this looking for a West-Coast IPA.

Nice looking beer….I’m brewing one of these next, hope mine looks this good! I had my first of that style at Zillacoah Brewery in Asheville that unfortunately got hammered by hurricane flooding.

Had a sudden thirst for a barleywine the other day. Picked this up in a shop that didn't have the best selection. Its . . . fine. Cheers.

okay, it is good to learn about the life jacket story. I was thinking of it as an earlier version of an AED on the wall. (kidding, I grew up sailing and worked on boats as an Outward Bound instructor and on a geophysical research vessel in East Africa)

Anthony (the guy on that can) was a personal friend of mine and was at our house a few times for bottle shares. It's hard to believe he's gone, he was way too young. He had a personality that could light up a room and genuinely loved people. R.I.P., my friend, you will never be forgotten.

    :beers:

Doubling down on Floyds Deluxe Lager. I see a cooler full of these on ice in my future. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday–a lot of much needed sunshine here in southern Wisconsin.

My wife gave me a "Dutch oven" one time, there's no way I'd eat any food cooked in that. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::smile: I didn't know any better, I was young, naive, and fresh off the boat from Indiana. :grimacing::smile: (And I still married her, here we are 31 years later.)

Finally got a chance to sit down and pulled out a brown ale. I wish more brewers would get back to basics with great takes in classics like this one.

Posted this in the Southeast Forum recently, good news regarding Zillicoah's effort:

Chilly breezy upper 40's day here in WNC. Trying my first Trimtab brew (Birmingham, AL), a NEDIPA. It is slightly under bittered in order to balance things out and results in being a tad on the sweet side. Nice fruit bowl of flavors though. Listening to Sirius.
    Cheers!

A tremendous Kölsch style beer from Halfway Crooks Beer - Farina. This is a goto beer during summer. Lacks the clarity I like in the style but lacks nothing in flavor and mouthfeel. Can took a beating because my clumbsy butt dropped two on the concrete floor in my basement. Remarkable they didn't explode. Cheers!

Written by Benny Golsen, a tribute to the great Clifford Brown. This version is performed by Lee Morgan & Art Blakey. Brown tragically died at age 25 in a car accident.

Having this Harpoon Pale Ale. The problem with these Harpoons is that they were canned back on November 18th 2024 so they're pretty much nearing the end of their good life. Especially the IPA, there's very little hoppiness left to it. I wish I knew they were this old when I bought them.

Based on the Wolf stouts you have enjoyed here in the VB, that beer was an easy choice for you (and me too.) Cheers.
