Delving into the cellar. 3/5/2018 Weyerbacher Sunday Morning stout. Still tasting amazing. A ton of nutty coffee still left similar to kbs on barrel complexity and smoothness. No booze on finishing. Still have a lot of bba stouts left in the pantry to drink. Going to get my wife to help at some point, but she takes her time with big beers like this.

Mag...Dead as Dreams and Eternal Majesty.. Eternal is good!

 

1) Ayinger Jahrhundert Bier (5.5%): A European Export from Germany with flavors of earthy Munich pale malt, earthy honeysuckle and floral notes. Clean.
versus
2) Ayinger Maibock (7.0%): A German Maibock with flavors of smooth earthy Munich malt and sweet honey. (Correctly matched the two beers blind.)

Ayinger Battle, their Jarhundert vs. their Maibock.
First Jahrhundert is their Dortmunder/European Export, and one of, if not their best, lagers. Complex pale malt flavors with a bit of honey and floral notes. Drinks sort of similar to a festbier. Extremely complex, flavorful, and drinkable.
Next is their Maibock, a limited Spring release. Admittedly Spring is my least favorite beer season. Not much going on besides a Maibock which I'm not a big fan of the style. Nevertheless this is ranked #2 on BeerAdvocate. Strong honey and earthy Munich malts. Somewhat sweet. I don't get much complexity of flavors from Maibocks. They're okay, but the most redeeming quality is just how drinkable they are for 7%. Clear winner here.
Winner: Ayinger Jahrhundert

Me too! Carbonation was a lacking a little on mine, but a very well executed breakfast stout. I agree with your assessment, maple and coffee beans were stated perfectly.
