I nearly died walking up the hill to this restaurant.


Looking towards Funchal

 

1) Half Acre Ridge Tree (4.5%): A Czech Dark Lager from Chicago with flavors of smooth cocoa, earthy grains, light roast.
versus
2) Little Thistle Mist & Shadow (5.0%): A Czech Dark Lager from Minnesota with flavors of dark graine, earthy, and roast. Clean and dry. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Czech Dark Lager Battle. First is Half Acre Ridge Tree. I picked up a lot of these this year. It's standard dark, clean and smooth on-par for the style.
Next is Little Thistle. Very similar, but a slightly more grainy and roasted flavor. A little drier as well. Also excellent.
Comes down to preference. I slightly prefer the grains and roastedness of Little Thistle here.
Winner: Little Thistle Mist & Shadow

 

Enjoying Fremont Dark Star, always enjoyable along with some more Sirius Rockwall channel.

Those are two awesome beers. Since leaving work six years ago, the nap is a great part of my post meal routine (I typically eat one real meal per day).

Never experienced with a beer what you did, but ranch dressing on the other hand, I’m 100% with every word in this rant (and other rants in regarding ketchup), and don’t even want it in my vicinity.

“If I go to a place that serves wings and they say it comes with ranch, I get up and leave…If you’re going to serve wings with ranch, I don’t want to do business with you.”

I think that is one of the best beers out there...but I completely understand. Rauchbier's aren't for everybody ha.

3 mile walk, $2 draft Tuesday here. Wake Brewing Masa of Puppets Mexican Lager today, going local. One plain, one with a salted rim and lime. There was a rep pushing Firestone Walker today, so we got some free Mind Haze IPA and 805 Cerveza today also (not pictured). Cheers!

 

Black Horizon rice lager, (Ghost). I assume the characters in front of the parenthetical name represent Japanese for ghost.



Pretty good stuff. Lager is definitely getting a Craft moment, maybe Fonzie and the shark aren't too far away.?.
