What beer are you drinking now? #4587

1) Phase Three Magnetic (8.0% canned 3/31/25): A NEIPA from Chicago with Nelson, Motueka, and Riwaka for flavors of grapefruit, passionfruit, and white grape.
versus
1) Toppling Goliath Scorpius Morchella (8.4% canned 4/14/25): A NEIPA from Iowa with Pacific NW and Southern Hemisphere hop blend for flavors of mixed berry medley, tropical grape and green melon, and notes of mango. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Happy Sunday Beer Advocates. A fresh Phase Three vs. Toppling Goliath NEIPA Battle. First is Phase Three Magnetic with some Riwaka citrus notes, tropical and green Motueka notes, also some bright vinous grape from the Nelson. Bright, vinous, and smooth.
Next is Toppling Goliath Scorpius Morchella. Similar hops and nearly identical aromas and flavors. Slightly more floral and berry flavors. The southern hemisphere hops show well here.
Both are outstanding NEIPAs if not better. I am slightly biased toward these Southern Hemisphere hop combos. Hard to call a winner. Slight edge to Toppling Goliath here. May have to revisit this battle.
Winner: Toppling Goliath Scorpius Morchella

 

@muchloveforhops3 sounds like you and Emmit are on your own for the weekend having a good time! Have to say i am looking for a WBAYDN post from Pelican from the Mrs.! And BTW i am still harboring Father of all Tsunamis as i try to stay true to my FIFO for imbibing high gravity brews. Suspect it will be appreciated next month!

Pretty solid hazy IPA from Stone - great deal at Costco at $30 a case! Here’s to frugality BA!!

 

Without sounding too heady it was the lack of a sense of time for me and the thought of insignificance compared to the grand scheme of things it kind of clicked in my head that I can thank those mushrooms for and honestly I’d recommend them to anyone with severe anxiety issues not even as an everyday use but just as like a chemical altering for the better feeling because truly I m not the same guy I was before discovering them. Cheers

 

Happy Mothers Day to all BA Moms and Moms of BAs! Mrs. Mac and I had a great FaceTime with our daughter (soon to be a Mom herself) and son. It's a shame they both live so far away but technology bridges the gap. It's a beautiful afternoon for a few beers on the deck. I'm starting with an absolute gem: Hyperphagia, an Imperial Stout brewed with maple syrup, maple granola, cocoa nibs, coffee, and cinnamon, from Esker Hart Artisan Ales here in New Jersey. It's the best Stout I've had in over a year. I just reviewed it on the NBW thread. I'd like to buy a case of it. Cheers!
