I don't know about this beer. I get that the style is supposed to help accentuate the hops, but to me, the hops comes across rather brash with a bit of metallic aftertaste. Plus, I don't pickup anything really suggesting citrus and tropical fruits in the smell or taste. Grassy elements, sure, but not much else. Drinkable but not very memorable.

Having a Pilsner Urquell on this hot and lazy day. Making some gumbo for dinner with smoked chicken and Andouille sausage. Simmering slowly on the stove and smelling wonderful.

    Cross-post from the NBW thread...

First foray into the weekend is a collaboration between Burial in Asheville and Brujos Brewing in Portland for a Quad IPA weighing in at 11.5 abv packaged four days ago. One of several colabs coinciding with Burial's 12th Anniversary including Allagash and the regionally relished Halfway Crooks.

    Onto the review:

Picked up a single 16 oz can from the Asheville South Slope location on 6-20-25 for $8.00. Canned on 17 JUN 2025; consumed 6-21-25.

Beer poured hazy light orange with a nice white head that dissipated pretty quickly.

Nose is very nice as the tropical and citrus hops are nicely burst and available to the imbiber to enjoy.

Taste is a large but surprisingly light malt base. Hopping is massive as i am getting orange, passion fruit, some grapefruit, and some piney notes. Finishes with some hop burn, -.25 points. Bitterness is 7/10 on my scale.

Mouthfeel is light bodied and both soft and very smooth.

Overall, an interesting brew, figured once the abv goes north of 10.5 it would be burny. One was enough to satisfy my curiosity.
    Happy Saturday!

Too hot to mow all my daughter's lawn today, so I broke it up and will finish tomorrow. After a cool down and a shower it's beer time. Founders All Day West Coast IPA. Cheers!

New brewery 10 miles away. Phantom Brewing. Drinking Moon Baby a hazy with some hop burn and a lot of alcohol in the backend. Wife doesn't like the Pilz either. Oh well.

Good afternoon BAs! Spent the day dealing with a flat tire on the camper. All is good. After a nice bike ride in the park, a Torpedo hits the spot:

Used to be able to get Saga on tap at The Filling Station in Davenport, IA., along with some pretty good drummies. I have always liked that one. Sadly, the owner of The Filling Station passed away from COVID-19 and the restaurant is now closed. Used to have a group of guys that would meet there once a month for wings and beer.

Good day everyone. I had a rockin' good time last night at Milk & Honey Ciders. Bumped into a few old friends I haven't seen in quite some time. The band brought it, it was very hot and muggy on stage, the fog machine kept the mosquitoes at bay, and each guy put 500 bucks in their pocket. World-class ciders from M & H that are priced like crafty craft beer.
So yeah, today here in the Twin Shitties it's dangerously hot. Duluth, MN on the other hand was in the 60s this morning for temps after a massive rain storm. They had to delay the start of the Grandma's Marathon and the Bjorklund 1/2 marathon due to tent damage at the finish line.
    Time for a beer!

A fair Mexican style lager, exhibiting some warm, grainy base flavors with a rather bold, biting hop bitterness.
