They did have a 2 bottle limit.

Most of those bottles aren't for myself. I'd rather go and buy in bulk and redistribute it to friends than making them all go out on the wild goose chase. FYI I got those after BeerMongers ran out.

I would, but I can't make the "bottle share?" before the Fantasia release.

Quite possibly. Send me a BM

Upright is going to be a mess on Friday next week. I can just feel it.

    I have that feeling too.

I would not suggest doing this. Neither the hallway or upstairs cafe are covered under Upright's liquor license, and last time something like that happened it looked like Alex was going to have an aneurism.

Ok, so the consensus is that a bottle share at upright is a bad idea that should not and will not happen. Still, I think the idea of a bottle share is a good one (thanks to the op for proposing it). Does anyone have any other ideas for a venue? As I mentioned before, I know of a couple of venues that may be amenable to this. If nobody else steps forward, I'll check with them this weekend, but if anyone knows the proprietors of any such establishment, it might be better for them to ask.

Perhaps check with Common's for a bottle share after the release?

Friday night might be a tough sell at most places, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Yep, this is one of the places I had in mind. As kscaldef said, though, it's Friday night, so it's totally understandable if no one wants to host a bottle share. I think the original idea was to have it before the release. I know this will put out some of the locals with 9-5 jobs, but might put less strain on any potential host, both by having during less busy hours and by making it a smaller event.

Also, I'd love to have an excuse to check out the Commons tasting room. I love their beer (Bourbon Little Brother is definitely a contender for "Beer of 2012" in my book), and am ashamed that I haven't yet made it there yet. I'd heavily recommend any of the out of towners coming in that weekend check out their beers.

I would be up for a tasting. Luckily that Friday is my friday off so I can go to a tasting as early as places open. Unfortunately places like the Commons won't open before the Fantasia release, but hopefully we can find somewhere else. Beermongers may not object if the tasting is done at noonish and not after work hours?

I wouldn't object to an "after party" tasting somewhere either. So everyone can attend. By 6pm I doubt I will want to be at Upright anyway and have no additional plans that night (or any money left most likely).

So, we're looking at Common's? Friday afternoon?
I know we gotta check out Cascade, HotD, and Deschutes (though, again, I am not a good person to recommend which is a good venue). I am sure if we choose one, I can talk to the people there and convince them it's a good idea. :-)

To my knowledge, no one has asked the folks at The Commons. It would be rad if that worked out, but there are no plans as of now.

Commons does not open until 5 on friday.

Deschutes and HotD are both mob scenes on Friday after work, although HotD might be mellower in the afternoon. I consider it exceptionally unlikely Deschutes would okay a bottle share. I have occasionally heard of bottle shares happening at HotD, but I get the impression you need to be pretty tight with Alan. I could be wrong, though.

I have no clue how amenable Cascade would be, but it's got a decent layout for such a thing.

I sent e-mails to HotD and Cascade....I will let you know the outcome when I hear from them.
Is Peche n Brett going to be gone by next week? I want to make sure I get a bottle or 2. Can anyone help me understand the supply and demand of this beer?

I just so happen to be visiting Portland next week from Wisconsin and would love to get in on a tasting or bottle share at this event. Never been so I'd like to meet some BAs if possible. Could bring some Surly Syx and Darkness and some New Glarus Fruit beers if people are interested.

Darkness is always a welcome addition.
I have some Syx and tried to bring it to a bottleshare here in the Bay Area and apparently everyone tried it and told me it was no good. I still haven't opened mine. What are your thoughts? Serendipity would be AWESOME. My roommate and I tried it at the same bottleshare and are trying to get him 6 bottles since he liked it so much. Any R&D beers from New Glarus? Sorry...just a fan of many of the beers in your area.
Again, glad to have you join in on the fun. :-)
