Keep an eye out for this if you're anywhere near Oklahoma in the next few months (though as I understand it, it may be preeeeeetty limited in supply):

As per the label description, it's an imperial stout aged in Jamaican rum barrels.

As for Piraat, I personally think that beer's just about goddamn sublime, at its best. Are you, by chance, not a big fan of hops or yeast-forward Belgian beers?

I think it's just not very well blended, especially for the style. I completely understand to each his own, and respect that the abv is higher than most belgian IPA's, but i find bitter xx, allagash malone, and la chouffe's belgian ipa to all be far superior

Check their facebook page—there was some more detailed information on the batch volume and distribution for this beer. I think it's a rum barrel aged version of their imperial stout, Prairie Noir. I've talked to the brewer a little bit and seems like a really nice guy with a great vision: saisons, saisons, saisons, with some hoppy things and the occasional imperial stout thrown in there. Sounds like my kinda brewery.

Fair enough. And yeah, Houblon Chouffe is a great beer—it's lighter-bodied and more herbal / lemony bitter than Piraat. Piraat is, to me, a really big, juicy BSPA with a boatload of hops, so I can see it being a bit heavy or too full / sweet for some tastes.

Honestly, you know what did it for me? My girlfriend and I were in Norwich, UK one time and we got takeaway Indian food before stopping at a beer store in town and returning to eat dinner. The combo of spicy, blonde, hoppy Belgian beer with Indian food was practically a revelation for me. Perfect pairing, and I never would've thought of it.

La Roja from Jolly Pumpkin has a cat on the deck of a ship in swashbuckling attire, if I remember correctly...a couple of their others feature classic ship motifs and are pretty damn cool...

Honestly not sure if I could put my lips to something named balls deep...especially when it only has a 78 rating

It's got a Pirate theme. Had some at the brewery, thought it was pretty good on tap.
